I have both disk and drum brakes and I can surelly say disk brakes crack. I have to change disks, fix stuck calipers, change brake pads not once a year!

I have freightliner with wide drums and I use to maintaine brakes every 2 years!

Yes, I fit EBS on trailer with drum brakes and it has RSS now too, good feature for 90s trailer!

I can't afford a new Mercedes car I highly doubt I could afford a new euro tractor.........our trucks aren't inexpensive but your cars are more so I think the trucks would be too.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

Really US and EU trucks are of the same price.

Yes, and I think they could be cheaper if they were just versions of the same base truck.

Cascadia shares with Actros MP4 engine, autonatic transmission, axles, cab electronics.

But ESP is option for Cascadia, EBS - option, ECAS - option, park heater - option, APU - option, distronic - option.

Mercedes offers all this stuff as standard

Our cars are not more expensive, the European cars you see in the US are the more expensive types. Of course the Fiat 500 should not be an expensive model, but there US customers pay quite a lot more then European customers :)

In USA the same models like in EU are sold with different names. Only harismatic models are sold with original names.

For example Opel is offered in USA with Saturn logo, simplified Vectra is Malibu. Ford Mondeo is called fusion there.

That may have to do with the with the way a NA trucker looks at his job, and the way an EU trucker looks at his job. I get the impression many NA truckers like to look at their truck as a big metal beast that has to be tamed, struggling with unsynchronized gearboxes etc. An EU trucker likes to have a sophisticated truck, it should be more sophisticated then an expensive car. He is not challenged by the truck, but by the roads.

Not only did they stop making cabovers 15 years agi, instead of selling the freightliners the fleets had through Select Trucks, Freightliner rebuilt them as Legacy conventionals in the late 90s. Virtually every Freightliner Cabover from the 90s is gone!

I'm sure, but what is the importance of something that happened 25 years ago for today?
