According to Wallmart page, it does not comply with CK-4 spec, but it does comply with the required CH-4 spec from CAT C15 Manual.

"Super Tech 15W40 Universal Motor Oil:

    • Specially engineered for heavy duty diesel and gasoline engines operating under all service conditions
    • High detergency and superior dispersancy keep engines clean and soot suspended in the oil despite longer drain intervals and increased soot loading
    • Higher starting TBN provides added protection against acid build-up causing rust and corrosion
    • Meets the following requirements: API CJ-4/SM; CI-4/Plus; CI-4; CH-4; CG-4; ACEA E&-04; Allison C-$; Caterpillar ECF-3, ECF-1, TO-2; Cummins CES 20081; Global DHD-1; JASO DH-2; MACK EO-O, Premium Plus '07, EO-N Premium Plus'03; MAN 3275; Volvo VDS-4, VDS-3, VDS-2
    • 2 gallon size"

Also, from my Cummins ISX15 engine manual:

"Synthetic or Semi-Synthetic oils may be beneficial for extreme arctic or extreme heat conditions but DO NOT EXTEND Oil Drain Intervals with synthetic or semi-synthetic oils"

Scania's EURO 5 and older did not use oil.
The EURO 6's now use oil.

Oxbow, KVB and spsauerland Thank this.

So, what we learn from this is that oil isn't oil!
NO!! These deposits may appear anywhere in the engine and oil lines. When you put new oil in the engine, it will also contain fresh detergents that will 'attack' the deposits. These deposits make break away, and end up at the turbo shaft for instance. Exit your turbo. That is why synthetic oils have far more detergents, to keep all junk in suspension.

We also had 2x 2012 Xf105, apart from few typical issues good truck.
It's just that early engines had problems (covered by Daf on warranty as far as I know) and that's a fact :D
That just proves my theory that Scania is not worth the price :p

    Oxbow and daf105paccar Thank this.

Untill you start pushing the engine (far) beyond the normal operating limits.

If you exceed these limits oil can have a big influence.
And the "official" oil specifications such as CI/CJ/CK become pretty meaningless.

Oxbow, haycarter, 98989 and 3 others Thank this.
