Cummins is contemplating extending the oil change intervals for the new CK-4 and FA-4 oils.

Yes, @nevesu claimed that I think the MX is superior because it burns oil, you reacted to that remark.

here shell rimula r6 lm cost about that
if you want r5 you can get it quite cheaper, can also use it in e6 trucks.

mb trucks can have oil interval up to 150.000km (93k milles).
computer calculate oil interval by use of truck, temperatures, engine load, it measure oil quality and lot more parameters are taken into calculation and notice you have to visit service. it is in use since 2008.
normally you can get up to 120k if you use their fleet managment system than you can go to 150k.
very few use it here, so many trucks make 120k km and you see computer calls you to service.
that means if they were equipped with Mb fleet system it might go above that.
You can make 100k on heavy use in long distance.
Work trucks can have oil interval of 30k km (garbage trucks). in normal use you can expect up to 3-4L of fresh oil during oil interval. Many trucks without any fresh needed. 11L engine can use oil if you push it hard. Worst case i have seen was 3L needed in only 50 000km on long distance as demo truck. 11 is def no engine for difficult conditions. it is ok if you dont have big hills, or if you are not always fully loaded, or one direction empty. in this cases it save some fuel comparing to 13L, once you start to push it hard it will soon start to be thirsty
    11L engine needs 35L oil
    13L 39L
    16L 42L

so it is one day every 12 months for most trucks off duty due oil change

What is operating range for oil? Most here are 4-6 Qt for the operating range. I don't add unless it's below add mark.

My brother owned Xf105 which needed around 4 liters every single week (around 2500 km), it was 2010 model, and Daf service was like, it's ok, he sold it when it had around 1,200,000 km. Engine still worked.

    So please, stop.

    Oxbow and spsauerland Thank this.
