Yes and no. If a frame has been designed as a cabover frame, then it is quite easy to put a hood in front of it. If a frame has been designed as a conventional frame, you will get a rather unsatisfactory cabover configuration. The reason is the position of the front axle, with a 'real' cabover frame the front axle is put further to the rear. Seems to me as if the NA cabovers were/are conventional frames changed to a cabover.

The following pictures show what I mean (the DAF XT is a bit of handicraft from a dealer, it is not a production model).

The K200 already was on the market before that prototype was made. The prototype has the Euro 6 DAF cab, and that cab has been in production since 2014. The K200 is much older. Maybe Paccar considered phasing out the K200 cab and replacing it with the DAF cab to save production costs.

I used that picture because it is the same cab as with the DAF cabover.

Where was this out cry for safety after the video the other day? Matter of fact , when I brought up safety , you posted another video of a overweight log truck. So you Do not have a leg to stand on now . Zero credibility.
That leftist mindset is shining through! They are not doing what I want ! They should be forced to do what I want! Retread your history !

And why do you think that I support such an obvious overloading of a truck? It is a well known fact that trucks are overloaded and abused in third world countries. I recently found a video where Nigerian authorities showed a Mercedes truck that had a weight of 170t. Showing a video of such a truck doesn't mean you approve of it.

Given your past . You mock most replies . I showed a truck with double the rating and braking power . Still only approved for roughly 1/3 what the video showed . I pointed out a real safety issue , and your next post was to show an another overloaded truck video. What else is any one to think, I even asked if everyone can agree that was wrong. Pow, new overloaded truck video. And this model would be better comment. How about agreeing if you can not stop the load , do not start it moving! I like your trucks , just correct nontruths. Now you insist that we be forced to do things your way ? Pablo has asked several times , do you drive , have you ever driven a NA truck . No answer . Not me asking , not someone even from NA , it's the guy from Ukraine. The guy you tried to insult with the , sorry I could not find the Texan version cheap shot . Your attitude on here is if you do not see things my way , you must be wrong , foolish or just backwards.

    Not true..
The K108 was on the Market when this Prototype was built. I know of several Fleets who trialled this prototype,& had some input into the Paccar decision to Extensively modify the KW Cab(IE: Completely Flat Floor, &The Step arrangement from the prototype made it to the K200..

They Did consider this,That's why the Prototype was Built.
But their market research indicated a strong customer preference for retention of the K series cab.

Hence the development of the totally unique to Australia K200..

    KVB and Oxbow Thank this.

European market got no enought aluminium supply and that's why in Europe aluminium is limited in automotive industry.

But really US cabin it not so safe as it looks. EU heavy steel cabin is much safer, especially in roll over crashes.

The main benefit of US conventional design - truck is faster.

Yep, u can disable speed governot on EU trucktor and it runs over 85 mph, but fuel milage goes bad
