Needs software update for oil pressure protection strategy/warning light due to the lower oil pressure experienced with 10W30. We still run EPA 07, 04, and 98 engines so 10W30 makes no sense for the potential damage vs possible very slight increase in MPG. Software updates are not free to the average operator of truck unless campaign or recall. If we wanted to change software for oil viscosity change, would have to go beyond the PVP website and would be charged additional expense and would require engineering approval.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

I will give you a real world example, not some hypothetical theory. A good friend of works for a very large leasing/rental/logistics company(yellow trucks, Roger that straightened out Detroit). They ran 15W40 with 50,000 oil drain intervals for years and the bean counters said it made most sense economically. Switched to 10W30 two years ago. Recently, they determined that 50,000 mile drains were too long for the oil and went to 25,000 mile drain. What money are they saving now?haycarter, Oxbow, KVB and 1 other person Thank this.
