I would say 82kmh is limit where speed become costly, difference between 80kmh and 90kmh is 10% of fuel consumption, now this is based on average fuel consumption of truck that accelerate , brake, drive in city-our trucks.

maybe this is not suitable calculation , for your long distance trucks as they got more constant power requirements

85kmh with 40tonnes require about 140hp of constant power, about 45% goes on air drag loses....

Anyone that drive motorcycles will know that driving up to 80kmh is no problem without hamlet, above that speed you certainly need one.....

this is quite wrong, especially you cant sum speeds, especially not of object with different masses.....you must also understand that each vehicle dont have same defomation zones, and it will not take the impact on same way

if you are not best with physicsand engineering as me and more into normal things
    try to look here

if you are however for physics try to renew your knowelage about newton laws, elastic and inelastic collision....

in Europe we have solution for this, called Emergency brake assist, Mercedes invented that and it is fitted into trucks since 2006.
It become mandatory in EU since 1.11.2015. not only for trucks but also for vans, only offroad trucks dont need to have it.....

Not sure. Truck companies do not offer this option here.

Usually if I can see ABA in truck, it is equipped with lane assist, ESP and all other safaty stuff.

US truckers, pay attention, that Wabco tests all these systems in Hannover. On both EU and US vehicles/

Fully understand different vehicles will react differently. But the term closure speed is not some thing made up. The BMW that hit our truck , may as well been loaded with C4. Nothing was left. Myth busters used two equally weighted cars . Not a 3500lb car and a 80000lb truck . How many Gs would it take to destroy the DD15 engine block. To Be blunt, the truck came all way through the car. I guess if it makes you feel better a 3500lb car moving at 80 mph hit a 80000 lb truck (or brick wall ) traveling 65mph . My first example may not been correct, but end result did not change. Seeing cabs in crash pics even build to EU standards , I want a crumple zone.

I've watched a number of crash test videos made by the ADAC (German Auto-mobile Club) on YouTube. They emphasized an important aspect called "partner safety". That means your car/truck should be build in such a way that the safety features in the other vehicle in a crash are not compromised by the way your vehicle is build. In your case that means that your conventional should be build in such a way that safety features in the BMW will function as good as possible in a crash, without being compromised by the way your truck has been build. Now I wonder how good a conventional is in this aspect.

Thought your point was how safe your design was ? And how unsafe ours was? Now you are saying ours are unsafe , because they are too safe!
