Same here. Don't see them in every state. Personally, I like the set up guys use in Canada. images.jpeg
Not sure if they run them in all provinces?

Not in BC and Alberta that's for sure. Lift axles for extra payload aren't allowed. You can install kits to lift trailer axles up for empty travel. Quite common to see them on super b's and tridems.

Dump trucks out here are either tandem or tri drive. See the odd twin steer tandem here and there. For dump trailers they run either tandem/tridem pups, or tri axle/quad wagons.

Can always run a South Dakota gravel train. But I guess those axles aren’t needed either.

Exactly how it's done here also. It's allowed to lift the axle up to 30 km/h. So you stop at red light before left turn, lift the axle, and once truck is straight you lower it again. Same for tight maneuvers, or reversing for bay.

    Lets talk oil and testresults.
    2 samples
total kilometers at time off sample: 280672(174400) ------------------- 3319081(199785) miles are in brackets
kilometers oil was in use: 88615(55062) ---------------------- 40852(25384)

    iron 56 ---------------- 27 ppm
    lead <1 ---------------- <1 ppm
    copper 8 --------------- 3 ppm
    tin 2 ------------------ 1 ppm
    chrome 2 ---------------- 1 ppm
    aluminum 36 ----------------- 17 ppm
    nickel <1 ----------------- <1 ppm

    SI-foreign(silicon) 9 ---------------------- 6 ppm

    soot 1.4 ----------------- 0.7 %
    water ok ----------------------- ok
    coolant ok --------------------- ok
    fuel ok --------------------- ok

    visc 100°c 14.7 ----------------------- 13.8 mm²/s

    wear coefficient 1.92 ---------------------- 1.02

Oil was Total Rubia Tir 8900 10w40

conclusion was that aldough the 90 000km(55923) interval results were not bad it would be better to reduce the interval to 80 000km (iron values and aluminum were on the high side causing a little to much wear)

Feel free to post your views.

we have sold only one since they exist, it is on 6x2 tractor customer asked for it specifically due weight and space on frame.
truck is equipped with 3 PTO, one for tipper hydraulics, second for mixer hydraulics and third flange PTO for compressor. it was not possible to get 16L engine and retarder with double gearbox PTO. so we have to stay on 530hp 13L. it is equipped with stronger 1 and 3rd axle and sliding 5th wheel, so can adopt to different semitrailers. differential is rated for 150k lbs gcw.
    some of trailers it pull:
    -13.6m open deck semitrailer
    -3way tipper
    -1way tipper
    -mixer 10 or 12m3
    -low loader
    -cement silo

in serbia they buy lot of 6x2 with baby axle for 44t container transport.
we have here law that tractor needs to be 3axle and semitrailer 2/3axle for 44t..... 2+3 is 42t

Just go to NL(Netherlands) and you will be able to lift as you want.(the Dutch are known to reprogram things like that)
Legally you can lift below 30km/h in the EU(18mph) under a traction control clause in the law.
I know in the USA they can fine you for that.
    How about Canada?

it is most common used on autotransporter rigids like this:

combination of short tractor with body and long trailer, in mainland EU is always 2axle trailer can be 2 or 3axle.
in UK tractors are 3axle as well.

I could re-program it for 500E (IIRC) here in Gdańsk :D

But it's really pointless for our operation, this 30km/h rule is more than enough.
