Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

What I mean is that the three main axles of the truck are perfectly capable of handling the weight of the truck, the beby axles are there to get enough axles to confirm to the bridge law.

 

we have 4 stages of this as selection on MB:
-up to 30kmh, 30% more weight for short time, requiered for EU
-up to 30kmh and 90 seconds, can be reactivated after 50seconds or when you drive again below 30 (not legal in EU)
-120seconds no speed limit, after 120 seconds can be reactivated (not legal in eu)
-no time limit (not legal in EU)

if you order any of 2,3 or 4th option you are going into nightmare with papers and eventually lose. so unless you are in scandinavia should stay away or find solution as you mention

 

In Volvo you just press a button and it goes up, doesn't matter how heavy you are. Gets only lowered above 30km/h. You can drive whole day with lifted axle as long as you don't exceed 30km/h. Not sure where time limit comes from..

 

there is a weight limit of 30% of legal axle weight.
so 11,5 become 14,95t in theory.
time is in law defined, i have read whole law once.

also you should stay away from manual trailer brake, some timber operators want it but once we start to explaining them what kind of problems we could have they soon let that idea.

 

Could be because baby axle in Volvo is made (propably) with or by Estepe, and they are Dutch "wink, wink". Even if turn of the engine it stays in the air.

 

Volvo is the worst for lift and extra steer axles.

 

Not sure, didn't try/drive/own any other 3 axle truck, but in Volvo wheels turn, it goes up and down, not sure what else you expect from it.

 

I am happy your Volvo works good.

Buy a Volvo 6x2/4.
Steeraxle will lock at 40km/h.
Stupid.
Ps Daf and Scania.......no speedlimit,they allways steer.

Buy a volvo 6x2 big wheel pusher.
Axle will come down with 8 metric ton on drive.
Try driving that in the rain.

And it is Volvo corperate who pushes that.

Said it before......Volvo salesman is not allowed on my yard.

How much weight on the drive before the baby lowers?

 

No idea really, forgot to spec axle weight built into truck ..

According to specification I got from dealer 11,5t. But it seems a bit too much.
