It wouldn't help. This is a special type of stupid that an education or even hands on experience won't fix.

Didn't Meritor buy the Volvo axle factory, and now produce these axles and sell them to Volvo, and others.

DAF use these axles as well on the new (heavy) tandem drive trucks.
Light tandem drive DAF's (like used in Australia) use Meritor single recution axles.

Yes meritor bough it in mid 1990s, i did not know that daf use them.
But still not logical, even if they are cheaper than MB axles still make no sense.

Btw Mb use 5 gears in hub, volvo 4 or 3.

    Look again:

    manual vs automated.jpg

The automated gearbox shifted at about 64 mph, that's why it took both trucks about the same time to reach 65 mph. However if you watch the video carefully, you will notice that the automated truck is faster.

How many truck drivers do you know that also sell trucks for a living? I assume he has driven far more different types of trucks than you have.

    I know few :)

There is near zero interest in manual.
We have so far 3 trucks in whole country since they are in production (2013)

In the US 70% of all new trucks also have automated gearboxes.
