Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Production started about 1988.
We ran 1987 2-series, one of the last, so I think 3-series must have been 1988 untill mid/late-90's.
14.2 litre V8, up to 500 hp 1570 lbft.
Family ties with Mack's V8, back then Mack and Scania co-operated a lot.
Early 143's or maybe the lower power version still used fully mechanical Bosch inline pumps.
High power versions like the 500 hp used electronically controlled inline pumps.
The V8 was introcuced about 1969, and very early engines were troublesome, at least for some. I don't remember what exactly went wrong, but there were catastrophic failures in very early life.
Later the 14.2 litre V8's were legendary, and considered one of the best, if not the best, european truck engine, for durability and performance.Last edited: Jun 7, 2019
