Seems that company was looking for trucks with engines the the 600HP class, and Scania was the only company with engines in that class. As far as I'm aware Scania and Volvo are the two only companies with trucks engines that deliver > 700HP in their standard portfolio.

By the way, Scania celebrates its 125th birthday this year. Not as old as its sister company MAN, that company is over 250 years old.

Last night I saw on TV how a standard Volvo FH16 with a new gearbox was able to get a 750ton roadtrain moving. De roadtrain was 300 meters long, and consisted out of trailers with two containers, one stacked on top of the other.

The program also showed a new DAF low deck tractor, with a fifth wheel height of 91cm, or a bit less then 3ft. How does that compare with other low deck tractors?

Long ago we had Scanias on the Turnpike in PA, they would deploy the air dams in reverse on the downgrade out of Allegheny. It did not seem too effective compared to say a good Jacobs brake.

Fast forward to this day, I don't have any problems against European Trucks anymore. I prefer American Iron.

Modern European trucks will have an exhaust brake system, and often an intarder, certainly in combination with an automatic gearbox.

but US cabins are made of weaker aluminium,

EU cabovers got heavy made of steel cabins.

That's why safety level does not differ a lot.

well volvo is better in marketing than building trucks , from one of best quality trucks few years ago they drop quality a bit,

in recent 3years they have invent more things than all manufacturers together in 20years , but how much customers really need this? 5%?, maybe 10%? but no more

in other hand their 13L engine suffer from fuel economy , use too much adblue(def) , got electric problems. how much customers are affected by this? almost all

in recent years volvo also drop prices for more specific chassis variant, lets say different than everyday tractor, when you need complicated chassis variant volvo offer unmatchable prices

crawler gears are good thing, gearbox with over 41:1 overall ratio, friend of mine have tried one and he says it is perfect for starting....

but german TÜV would not give volvo its 325t for sure , not sure if they are going to have more than 160t , they look at braking capacity, parking brake variant, air system, retarder, auxuliary braking, and cooling system

also ishift also have big steps between gears to be able to cope with that weight, it even show problems with 120t since gaps between gears are 28%

that is with 315/45r22.5 tires they come on 9.75x22.5inch wheels, that is still far from reality, here nobody uses 295/55 , we use only 296/60 or larger, lower tires you have more problems you get

daf have this project , but i think it is far from reality

mercedes offers 899mm 5th wheel height, unloaded,
