Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

    I'm not going to get into attacks or politics but there are more and more of us unsatisfied with the socialistic state this country has become. Both provinces I am from are the ones that basically carry the rest of the country. So you can understand why most of us from those provinces are quite bitter towards the concept of socialism. I liken socialism to this: Its like when you go out trick or treating on Halloween but your lazy brother stays home. Then your parents make you give half your candy to your brother. Its just not fair to the ones who are working the hardest.

    That is a normal situation in every country. Every country has poorer regions and rich regions, and money flows from rich regions to poor regions. That is not socialist, it is social.

    We have a whole continent based on that idea, rich countries helping and investing in poor countries, helping them to become prosperous, and it works. When West Germany and East Germany were united, the West Germans inherited a completely run-down country with enormous international debts. The West Germans did not complain, they paid the debts and completely rebuild the east.

    And don't forget, sometime rich regions become poor regions, and poor regions become rich regions. That happened for instance in Belgium, the French speaking part of Belgium was rich, it had coal and a steel industry. The Ducth/Flemish speaking part of Belgium was much poorer. Now it's the other way around, the mines and steel plants are closed.

    as for axle weights, not every truck in EU needs to go above 17500lbs, but some applications require higher axle weights,

    best example are big cranes mounted behind cab, scania itselft is specialist for those and many customers prefer scania.


    this truck have 12t on front axle , this is 26500lbs

    however this is extreme case, normally crane trucks dont go above 20-22k lbs, axle itself is rated for 20k and in limited condition to 22k, limited means not too much offroad.

    scania would soon offer real 26.5k front axles suitable for mining etc.

    most extreme case i have ever heard is 15t on front axle ,this is 33k lbs, truck is scania used to repair road by filling cracks

    for 17.5k we can use almost all tires including 355/50, 375/50, 315/70, 315/80
    for 20k we need 385/55
    for 22k we need 385/65 but not every model of tire is capable of 22k

    our winter maintenance trucks almost always have 23.2k front axle weights

    as for longline v8 6x2 , euro 6 ( custom made) you can expect 6500kg -14.3k lbs, on front axle

    real original longline weights something like 13.4k lbs on front axle, this is in factory condition, almost all of those trucks are modified so you can expect some extra weight

    It's even more idiotic when you don't tell us where the money for fixing the appr. 40,000 bad bridges in the US has to come from, if it can't be raised by taxes.
