Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Cab replacements? Cab structures seem pretty solid. I have a 36 year old KW cab gutted in the back yard and other than a couple rust holes in the firewall behind the HVAC box and a sagging rear cab frame, its in suprisingly good condition. Unless these newer truck cabs aren't built as good as they used to be.

 

New cab wiring , new ac , 0 miles on cab , all new interior . As far as a company driver would be concerned , it would be a new truck. Rebuild everything , blast the frame . Would look factory fresh.

 

If done right , only real difference between that and a glider , is the frame.

 

Your tax system is totally wrong. You pay tax on a new truck, you should be taxed more for driving old dirty trucks. This doesn't happen in Europe, old dirty trucks are not allowed to enter cities. Show up with some old truck with a customer, and he won't be your customer any more. European trucking companies want to drive new state of the art clean trucks. Next year platooning will start on European highways, you can't do that with old trucks.
