All good points, BUT, I am only looking for new and I am only looking for something I can buy here, reason being, we are long haul so I need a dealer network, otherwise you will have a truck sitting in BFE for a month waiting for parts!

    There is.
But more important is the lab report that comes with each version.

But there is hope that import either way might become cheaper and easier.
    CETA.

But there is the beauty off newer trucks.
If we take Paccar, the computer used DAVIE is the same one for both NA and Eu.
So starter alternator and a few pumps are voltage bound.
    CAN is the same.

In that case the only thing you can do is confront Paccar with the success of the Kenworth K270 and K370, and tell them you would like to be able to buy a DAF CF as well in the US. Your dealer can't help you, Paccar itself must give it a try.

    Doesn't work like that.
Paccar and as Kansas mentioned Volvo too feel the market is too small.
Only way would be a private import.
    Is possible .
    Just takes a little effort.

Financially it is possible as the dollar is strong vs the euro.
Add to that the fact trucks are cheaper in the EU.
I even think it would be cheaper then buying a convential truck in the USA.

well what is really interesting to me is that truck is about month old and still using euro 5 engine which is not available since beginning of 2014.

Allison transmission, this is version 4500 with 6speeds scania calls it ga867r
it is version capable of 2508nm -1850lbft engine have 3000nm and it is not limited torque,

convertor needs to be often used to fill gap between gears, here two trucks for heavy haulage use allison 4700 gearbox, and from what i have heard from drivers is they are not good, problems with traction, they refuse to downshift, causing fully loaded truck needs to restart on incline. so things like allison can shift under load seems are not correct in this case.

I have tried allison 3000sp, and from what i have experienced is, shifting strategy is useless while it should shift up it refuse and keep same gear, do also same even if you press accelerator very little, it jerks while shifting,

so i have no idea why would someone chose allison instead of zf manual 16speed with wsk

That is why I am waiting to order until may 2017 I am going to get a KW 880 short hood 40" sleeper MX11, reason I am waiting to order is Allison TC-10 will be available in Paccar at that time, it is by far the nicest auto/atm I have ever driven.

That is why I mentioned that the K270 and K370 are so successful, much more then Paccar expected. It may well be that their ideas about a small market for cabovers are wrong.

We use a farm tractor, lol I have hauled MANY a Unimog in my days, as soon as I ask the customer what attachments it has with it he knows that I know what I am talking about, those and Snowcats are probably my favorite customers to deliver to.
