Good question, don't know as all of our HD trucks are built in this country or North America.

Unimog is nice. But they are really small and like a 80 pound weakling who snaps when hit by a 210 pound street bruiser. Our trucks break off small stuff in battle but do not roll over and turn into a junk pile when confronted with American terrain, especially out west. Europe does not understand that they drove 60 miles today and cross a whole country by lunch. That's not driving. Here in America you are going to drive for a WEEK and still not get to where you are going sometimes.

First outfit I wrenched for had a Unimog 4x4 hydrovac unit. In all honesty, it made a great lawn ornament for in front of the shop and that was about it. No technical support for it and parts were insanely expensive. Western Star dealer managed to send us a couple wiring schematics and that was all we could get for technical info.

To start with, there are two Unimog lines, the 300,400, 500 range and the 5000 range. The 300, 400, 500 range is sold as geräteträger , translated device carrier. It is meant as a mounting platform for mowers, snow ploughs, cleaning machines, cranes, and even as a shunt locomotive for trains of up to 1000 tons.

These trucks are quite capable off-road vehicles, but the 5000 line is much better as an off-road truck:

I wouldn't call an U5000 "small", it has a maximum weight of in excess of 25,000lbs. It is to my knowledge the most capable off-road truck in its class, you can even get a 6x6 version.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Just wondered why not just use 100 to 150 hp farm tractors to mount these attachments to ? Be a faction of cost and can go places just the same .

well you use unimog when you want to travel at speeds from 140 yards per hour up to speeds 55mph, unimog is capable of nearly everything,

options are front and rear live pto, 4 circles of hydraulics, power hydraulics and much more of hydraulics, exhangable platforms, front rear and side attachments for implements, more than thousand different implements. you can get 6 or 8 reverse gears, working and crawler gears are available , central tire inflation, 3 point linkage for agri work.

hydrostatic drive or torque converter are available too

portal axles , 360 visibility and much more

in serial equipment unimog is capable of pulling 160K lbs

    so possibilities are infinite
