image.jpg Say hello to big bud . Tips the scales over 100,000 lb when her 1000 gal fuel tank is full. This one is only making 900hp . Turns land at a rate of 1 acre per minute.

Americans don't like Paccar because EVERYTHING (geartrain) is under the bell housing. The Paccar was designed to be used in cabovers, if you need a cam changed, air compressor, injector rail..... You have to remove the engine or transmission (sometimes both) depending on the truck its in and part being changed. The final straw for me was $3000 labor to change the cam... Im building a 6NZ.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

BTW... a cam change in a 389 requires the engine to be removed because the cam hits the firewall when removed. First separate the engine from the transmission, remove radiator core support, remove engine... 13 hours BEFORE you begin actually removing the cam. Then you have to put it all back in.... Great idea Paccar!

Sounds like how Cat designs their construction equipment. Brilliant idea designing a skid steer loader that I have to remove the battery every 500 hours so I can change the freakin' oil filter.

Nice, but these trucks have nothing to do with a Unimog type of truck.
The first three appear to be militarized normal tractors, I can't even see if all three are 6x6. I wonder about their off-road capabilities.

The International seems to be a real off-road truck. Mercedes has a similar truck, the Zetros (also available in armoured version of course).

However MAN Rheinmetal is building real military trucks, and Tatra has a similar looking line, although they have nothing in common.

Interesting, in Europe we don't put normal trucks in the fields, for that purpose we have Agro trucks. The next clips will show a couple of Tatra trucks, but MAN and others also sell Agro trucks.

First a 6x6 tractor. Notice that the 3rd axle of the truck is steering, and that the 2nd and 3rd axles of the trailer are also steering.

In the Netherlands we need different Agro trucks, this is a kind of test drive of such a truck on a military training ground. Notice that axles 1, 2, and 4 are steering.

And even such a truck can get stuck, and has to be pulled out of the mud. Contrary to US trucks, the front of the truck stays attached, and doesn't break off. :)
