That's odd. In previous discussions on this matter US truckers wrote that engines with so much power were not useful, and that's why US trucks didn't have them.

Which brand and types are these engines with 700HP?

Curious what the deal is with the Michelin Man. Seems like every driver I run across here in the US from Europe has two on his truck.

Most are older cats or cummins that have been improved upon.....

700hp is plenty useful , and just plain nice to have...

P.S you don't always have to use it

    I don't see 700 as a company driver, it's just not happening. 500 usually but never 700.

There may be 700 engines in service as I write this but with today's draconian governors and people who are not the hard mettle they were once several generations ago, 700 is excessive.

Don't know. But Michelin is about the most famous tire brand in Europe, and the Michelin man, or Bibendum, is a very old, funny, and recognizable symbol for this brand

Ah, I see, tuned pre-emission engines.
The fun is that US and EU trucks mostly use the same engines. With Paccar it's very simple, the type numbers are even the same (MX-11, MX-13 etc.) Detroit diesel is basically a Daimler Benz engine. With Volvo it's also quite clear, but Volvo doesn't offer the 750HP engine in the US. It seems that US truck engines stop at about 600HP, also with Cummins.

I'm just wondering if Paccar will get an MX-16 engine. Since DAF is selling more tractors then any other brand in Europe, DAF will need a more powerful engine when heavier trucks (> 132,000lbs) will become standard. At least that is my guess.

By the way, some time ago someone showed a 1000HP Scania in this thread, also achieved after a bit of tuning.

I love to romp, Trust me. I don't care if I get beaten bad on the romp.

I guess my position has been we have been stuck on 500's for years let's really get some horses tied on, like 1000 plus. Come up Cabbage westbound against the governor for once.
