Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Everything helps. Besides that, it is the standard way these trucks are build. Look at the Kenworth K270 and K370, no streamline what so ever. The very similar Daf LF (same cab), completely streamlined.

I fail to see the benefits of an aero truck logging out in western Canada. Its all day cab work and you're paid by weight. So no point in having roof fairings, sleeper or any of that other junk that'll get shaken off the truck. Plus when you load the trailer up on the truck, the fairings would be in the way of the trailer reach.

With these Scania and Volvo trucks the sleeper is part of the cab of course, and can't shake off. Besides that the cab itself has air suspension, no shaking. The roof fairing is mounted on top of that cab, and can't shake off either. I suppose these guys know how to load a truck without damaging it......

Looks like over-engineered excess weight for a truck that goes in the woods. Yeah nobody over here knows how to load trucks without damaging them we'd need to bring in some European experts to teach us how.

We must've had some of the rare breed out here. Bent stacks and broken mudflap hangers are about as rare as a sasquatch lol.

Over-engineered? What is over-engineerd please? You mean the air-suspension of the cab? That's almost standard. Or do you mean the sleeper cab itself? That's a standard non-sleeper cab, jus a bit extended to the rear.

Well, Mr. NorthernMechanic was afraid the fairings would be in the way......

now it is interesting to see in australia
here we usually dont have crane cab, for its weight space it takes and of course price

it is really interesting to see different specs for trucks that are working similar jobs and on first look similar

one day someone wants full spring suspension for better stability , traction and durability.
other day you have guy that wants to save on weight and get some comfort and he wants rear air,
3rd day you have guy that want air suspension all round for better look and comfort he sacrifice ground clearance

one guy want platform and 8 pair of stacks from steel, to get better flexibility as he is able to load palets and steel or load 1m long wood
other guy wants platform only on truck to protect vital parts and trailer without platform
3rd guy wants everything without platform to save on weight and only 4 pairs on stacks

here some people want robust as possible trucks that weight 20t , other ones want light trucks ( often 6x2) with everything aluminium shorter wheelbase small crane and trailer almost without chassis to get extremely low empty weight

one thing is sure, if you have removable crane like on video and you drop it in forest, you will never see it again

    Cat sdp Thanks this.

See. No room for tall cabs or sleepers. No room for sissy side skirts because you need ground clearance.

Edit: Almost all logging out here is done roadside on the sides of mountains. That's why we load the trailers onto the trucks because it's too much a PITA to turn around with a hayrack or super b in the bush.
