The cabover that Western Star sold was just a rebadged White GMC cabover with a different interior. Now I will say that the new Argosy's are looking pretty good. The Western Star is on the right.

That has been covered in this thread countless times, but it seems you have a problem with your memory. It's about the same as me asking why NA trucks can't handle proper axle loads compared to EU trucks.

it's not the trucks that are the problem. It is archaic regulations and piss poor road building.

Yes, I know. And the poor bridges. And because I know, I don't mention it all the time, and ask (for instance) why NA tractors have two rear axles, and most EU tractors have one. I know why, the axle loads. EU cabs aren't bigger because the trucks would be too long then. In NA you have a weight problem, in EU we have a length problem. That has been discussed over and over again, so a question like "Where is the missing 4 feet?" is rather silly. I could post the photos of the Scania Longliner again (a NA driver wrote "that's not a sleeper, that's an apartment") to show that EU truck manufacturers can build big cabs, but what's the point. There's almost no demand for them, and if you really want one, you can have one made.

You must know then that our bridge laws are not about bridges.

How do you mean? As far as I'm aware axle spacing and axle load in the bridge laws are set the way they are to prevent damage to bridges, so the bridges are to weak for what would be a normal load for a modern truck. Besides that, some 40,000 important bridges in the US need to be repaired or replaced.

The bridge formula relates to the distance between axles, i.e. "bridge". These formulas are created to prevent overloading of all roads, not just bridges.

Right. My uncle had one in 79 i think it was. Like you said, its just a white with a ws badge.

The one he posted i dont think was real. It would be cool if there were more companys that made cabovers. I wish we could get a KW 104 thats left hand drive over here in the states!!!!!!

OK, I see. We have similar regulations, but they only apply to tandem and tridem axles.

Interesting... The problem with NA cabovers is that the front axle is precisely below the doors, so entering the cab is a bit difficult. In Australia they have added steps that slide out of the truck, so you can walk in so to speak. With an EU cabover, the front axle is more to the rear, so it's much easier to get into the cab.
