Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

I don't know what trucks you are looking at, i wad looking at the ones that compare closest to what we call a class 8 truck. And none of them were anywhere near 80k us dollars.

Although there are twin steer trucks here, they are heavy haul and specialized. I looked at truckpaper.com, and there was nothing new listed with tandem rear axle. The only one listed wasn't European, it was Japanese in Australia. 2010 Iveco for $53,000. I doubt that it sold new for twice what an American truck sold for.

When i said i could buy 2 us trucks for 1 euro i was talking about life time cost of ownership. Initial cost is obviously not double.

Got some basic specs on them? That's almost 50% less than a us truck, which makes me think you are comparing apples to oranges. Tho with the exchange rate you mention i did just learn the euro had fallen drastically since the last time i had to buy from across the pond. Gotta knock 20% off the number i used above.

No, not gonna own one of those till i have to. I was basing the cost on a glider kit i had specced in january of 2015. That was the most recent firm no estimating numbers i had. A glider is a legitimate option for the vast majority of owner operators in the us.

Funny thing, i can run California perfectly legal. I just can't go into the dense population zones. But guess what, most military bases are not inside those areas so i have no issues. The only way it effects me is i can't go grab a buck a mile can off the port as a cheap back haul. But even before carb and their nonsense i wouldn't do that.
