Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

As i replied to daf, my number was about 30% high. It's been so many years since i traveled across the pond(and the world has changed so much so quickly, I have no desire to return) i had no idea the euro fell so much in value compared to the us dollar. That brings the price down to about 160k. Comparably priced to a similar truck here. For initial purchase at least. I maintain that lifetime cost for a us truck would still be far lower.

My fuel use is comparable to yours. 8 to 8.5mpg. 100k mile oil drain interval is very common, yet a bit too long for my taste, i stick to 50 to 60k even if the lab says the sample is so good. Internet diagnoaics? Integrated gps? Ya we have that. No i won't buy a truck with it. The more integrated and comped you make a truck, the more stuff is on it that can break and the more it costs to get repaired (see International prostar for evidence of this). Parts readily available? Dude there is over a million 12.7s in the us alone, no matter where i am i can find parts a short taxi ride away. Not just oem, but much cheaper aftetmarket brands. And for the really rare occurance they don't have it in stock, i can get it overnighted for 35 bucks.

You can't possibly be trying to say that mx13 is as easy and cheap to diagnose and repair as a 12.7L series 60.

Not really. You got to look at the full picture. Western Europe was able to divert a lot more money to their infrastructure than we have been. Post war rebuilding was greatly funded by the us. Their military spending paled in comparison to ours, they simply didn't need a strong well funded military to keep the Soviets at bay cause ours was there and still is.

And that doesn't even touch on how the 2500 miles of the autobahn was built with slave labor jews and funded by the wealth the nazis stole from them. And don't forget the 360k German citizens who pre-purchased hitlers volkswagon which never got produced and no refunds were issued.

Yes, I know. But look at that front axle, and the silly way you have to get into that cab. All other COE trucks, EU, Japanese, Chinese, have the front axle further to the rear. DAF is also sold in Australia, and I do think they should build a cab like the one I showed previously for Australia. As fas as I'm aware, Paccar dealers sell Kenworth and DAF in Australia, and DAF is doing quite well. I wonder how much Australian truck drivers differ from NA truck drivers?

This is also an Australian Kenworth truck:

    Kenworth chassis, DAF XF cab.
