Yes, a few postings back I already made the remark that European tyres for steer axles on the front of a truck can handle much more load, think of 9,400 to 11,000 lbs / tyre. Those are normal tyres, nothing special. They are wider too of course, a bit over 15 inch (385 mm).

We do have duals on steerable axles, but then the whole axle is steerable. That is quite common really, certainly on tippers. Suppose you have a medium size tipper with two rear axles. If those axles are at least 1.8m (about 6 feet) apart, then they are seen as single axles. That means they can be loaded up to 11,500 kg (25,350 lbs) / axle, so over 50,000 lbs on the rear axles. Since such a tipper often is a 6x6, the front axle can also be loaded up to 25,350 lbs (in theory, if there are proper tyres available). So in theory such a three axle tipper could have a maximum weight of over 75,000 lbs.

The last axle of such a tipper (with duals!) will be made steerable, the whole axle will steer a bit, so it's not like with the front wheels.

Big tippers that can technically handle 132,000 lbs, but are legally limited to 110,000 lbs on the road, have five axles, two 'normal' steer axles on the front, and two steerable axles with doubles at the rear.

I always liked the looks of Freightliner cabovers since a time it was unnecessary of say cabover as they didn't make a conventional. Looks are subjective, but in general, "classic" looks are more objective. It is not because of my subjective preference for the looks of trucks that have been around for 60 plus years that their offspring are the most popular in truck shows!

i dont remember if these were used in NA market,

those below were used, there is interesting photo of L1113 and FL COE standing in front of twin towers in 1982, almost similar photo as scania did with T112 (1986)

hm they had those L series, and LP series ( actually NG cab) which were made from 1985 till ? but this is strange to me those were medium duty, 12-15t, but they are NG cab which was already very old. strange they did not used LN cab

i am trying to give example how much some segments of truck developing in USA is behind EU,

it is 1963 truck comparing to 2010 ( ok i was bit unfair 2010 is last year of K108)
of course that 1963 is in most parts behind 2010 truck or 90s flat floor NA cabover

but flat floor is not hard to make, you simply add one step more and raise cab floor to engine tunnel but question is: how high floor would be from road? K108 (2010) have engine tunnel from road at about 2050mm or 6ft 9 in, in europe flat floor means about 5ft 4in or less.

it is same thing about almost everything , simply your truck industry is behind ours in development stage, i would be unfair if i dont write that before mid 60s europe truck industry was far behind yours

thing about tires and load on front axle, i see that more from safety side , it is not same if you put 12000lbs on that tires or if you push them to limit, since they travel on high speeds, bringing those tires to their limit is not too smart.....

So that is the whole basis for the arguments here? You want to feel like you are superior? When all the truck manufacturers are owned by European companies, you cannot even justify that statement.

Different markets require different solutions. Heck, even here in the states what you need in Montana is very different from what you need in Oklahoma. Same looking truck but totally different specs.

whole basis that it is so funny to me to see how much resistance you have for better things,
in every aspect, starting from 6ch abs, ebs, automated transmissions,

yes they are owned/ or have something in common, and it is clear in recent years that you have much more eu things , starting from interior parts like buttons steering wheels, common electronics, engines gearboxes, now detroit offer MB axles.in future you will see more and more of our parts in your trucks, because it is better for manufacturers to use inhouse parts rather than pay 3rd companies for same parts.

well there are some even less development markets, now real expansion is india and china, who manage to take over this market is boss. bharat benz trucks are on development level at least 25years from today trucks here, have same owner as MB and FL and WS but this market dont have money for better so they adopt those trucks for them. USA and Canada are not 3rd world countries, you have money, but it is so strange to me that you are not able to adopt higher stage.
