Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Another option, cost much less. On board scales. Even simple air suspension gauges would prevent that from happening. It took me under 200 bucks to put gauges on my truck and trailer, this allows me to load my truck and trailer perfectly every single time, right at the shipper, no need to go find a cat scale.

That is done every day here. I like the dump valve to get under the low ones.

I had to go drag a prime trailer back to our yard while the wrecker brought the tractor in. She had lowpro 22.5 and I had 11r24.5 and a taller frame. With the RGN ramps and the air dumped I was able to get under the trailer. I then just left the landing gear where it was so that when I dropped it she could get back under it.

Now you want to talk about something difficult to get under? Loaded potato trailer where the low riding pete just got pulled out from under. It was on dry asphalt but that truck still did not want to go under.

So you lower the landing gear to get your lower truck under it. What's the problem?

Edit: guys will say it's really hard to lower landing gear, this is completely false. Landing gear on equipment that had been maintained well and taken care of works great. I can put a 60k lb coil on my trailer and lower our raise it to the maximum travel and barely break a sweat. Grab a trailer from the typical mega carrier and try to do that and your shoulder might pop out of socket first, this is due to abusive drivers and poor fleet maintenance. Has nothing to do with the equipment itself.

Yep my trailer has that on the rear axle dump. No need to add a much more expensive option when what we utilize here accomplishes the same thing with much less cost.

Easy enough to do. But when a mega company purchases 2k trucks a year, saving even $1000 a truck adds up.

So? That 2 minutes it took me to lower the landing gear is a negligible difference. Gonna have to find a better arguement than that to convince me that our manufacturers are way behind the curve. More complicated and expensive dues not equal better. It takes increasing productivity or lowering operation costs to say something is better.

Uh no. No one has given a single point that shows that or trucks are under developed. 2 things that have been mentioned, driver controlled suspensions?...where needed we have them. Disc brakes? Been available for many years.

i dont understand what do you consider expensive?

for me expensive are things than dont help you, such as chrome , big stacks and other things,( i am not against this, but i have priorities)

simple tools that make your life easier everyday , i dont consider that expensive

even early EU trucks with air suspension axles from 1970s had some kind of air height control, it was outside of cab, it was mechanical valve, but did its job ( job was to load and unload BDF containers using rollers and air suspension)

ECAS was presented in 1986, by Wabco and in use since 1987, i dont remember any truck in last 25years without ECAS

This is why we like chrome. If your ride isn't unique, you're just like everyone else. adp1j2Q_700b.jpg
