They aren't. We just went through this a few days ago. With numbers and exchange rates you provided, they are almost the same price.

That is what I needed. You guys talk about steering trailers , most trailers with what you are talking about here run less then 50,000 miles . A OTR trailer here can see 300,000 miles a year. How many times will those self steering axles have to be rebuilt in a 15 year life span ? Things that last you guys years , will be worn out in 2 . Remember the pic I showed of a two year old day cab? I can point out things you guys do that are plain silly! Large number of your trucks are straight trucks pulling a draw bar trailer. Means no drop and hook. That truck must stay till he is unloaded. Yesterday I pulled 14 different trailers into 7 different term. All closed put inbounds to doors , hook up next set and off again . Covered 700 miles . Repeat today . So guy with draw bar is 26 loads behind still waiting to get truck unloaded in the morning. And how ever many miles extra miles . But you guys want to insist every one do things your way ...

This is the problem in this thread. Anyone doing things different than they are, are backward uneducated rednecks. Even third world countries are adapting their way!

That pretty much sums up the tone of this entire thread.

Well show us what a 500,000 mile truck looks like. You all are saying they get rid of trucks before 5 years old, that's only 250k on them. Or 170k less then the loaner truck I am in now . You even stated how the value of your trucks drops! Why? There are trucks here 15 years old worth over 50% what they sold new for. Is it just looks?

    Daniel.
Truck with drawbar trailer has gone the same it has in the USA.
Not extinct but close to it.
And the reason secondhand trucks don't sell so good anymore......think war in Ukraine and Russian embargo.

My self steeraxle is now 7 1/2 y young.
No play on anything and i run a lot heavier then most in the USA.

Btw a different taxsystem is another reason for buying more new trucks.

ÂND our roadtax is linked to our Euro classification.
So running a 99 truck here would cost you more then the payments on a new truck.

    No
I didn't say all trucks here are sold at 5y.
    Both trucks i sold were 8y .
Both cases it was purely a financial decision.
