Design can mean two things, technical or appearance. I was talking about appearance. A while back there was a video about the Kenworth I900, please play it again.

The only look similar to a person that doesn't pay attention. I can point out a hundred different things on them.

Edit to add: and even if they did look exactly identical, why the heck do you care so much that others want that classic truck look?

I'm sure you can, but that's hardly the point. The I900 is build to look like a 70 year old design, and that's what many NA truckers like, and that's why your manufacturers are sticking to it. It's as simple as that.

You really think the execs and stock holders of swift, ups, walmart, Schneider, heartland, etc etc give two ####s what truckers like when they order thousands of truck each and every year?

The classic pete and kw are just two models of trucks sold here. And while i don't have the numbers in front of me, i would bet a steak dinner that you would be hard pressed to find another model with a lower market share.

For every w900 or 389 pete being sold there is probably 250 aerodyne trucks sold. Yet truckers won't buy a truck that doesn't have that "70 year olds design".

At the risk of been Howled down & called all sorts of nasty names...

I'll go out on a Limb, & predict that :
Within 10 yrs (less if there's a Global recession) European COE trucks will be sold in reasonable numbers in North America..

Given the fact that there's really only 4 Truck manufactures in the World.

    1) Volvo group. (Volvo, Renault, Mack UD)

    2) Daimler Trucks. (Benz, Freightliner, Western Star, Fuso)

    3) Volkwagen, (MAN, Scania, & a 17% share of Navistar)..

    4) Paccar, ( Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF)

Plus a plethora of Indian/Chines joint ventures..

& given the fact they already share lots of Driveline components, & this will only accelerate, given the massive R&D costs involved..

Now, does anyone want to sell me a Flak jacket...:D:p

I agree with you, although I do think they will have much bigger sleepers.

More attention to aerodynamics, but the euro cab-overs not so much.

By the way Caesar, what are your speed limits on that side of the pond, including the autobahn?

This is my baby. 37 next year:
    Brand new Icon 900.

As you can see, they may look similar at first glance. Look really hard at it you'll see the hood shape is quite different, especially around the headlights. Cab is wider. Single piece curved windshield rather than 2 piece flat. Hood is longer. Many more differences inside.

spyder7723, SAR and Oxbow Thank this.
