You do realize that those same 4 manufacturers are the same ones that have been building trucks for the last 20 years right? Mb bought freightliner in what year? 2000 if i remember right. If they were going to start trying to push the mb cabovers here, they already would have. The biggest reason we won't see them being sold here is because we don't have a need for the short wheel base otr truck. Therefore our hoods and bigger sleepers will always dominate or market. If in the future the government enacts some length legislation then wet will see cabovers take over.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

But when you think about it, imagine the size of a sleeper we could fit if we converted a longhood KW w/studio sleeper into a cabover? It'd be like a hotel on wheels lol. Probably too heavy though.

They Bought Western Star in 2000..
But I still think you will see Euro COE trucks been used in urban & regional Distribution roles (particulary in the North eastern States) Another Role I see them been used in is; Intermodal work out of the Wharves & Rail yards..
Given that Volvo Mack & UD all use the same Motors & gearboxes in their heavy trucks.
Freightliner Benz & Fuso also do the same thing
Given the ever increasing emission standards & the consolidation of the all Automotive manufacturers.. I personally thinks It's inevitable..
But I guess only Time will telldaf105paccar and spyder7723 Thank this. -
I disagree with you on we will start seeing them here. But I'm only basing that on the hunch that if it was gonna happen, it already would have. Obviously i could be wrong and definately not trying to say you are wrong. We are both just taking a guess.haycarter Thanks this. -
