I understand. If American truckers would have had the choice, truck development effectively would have stopped some 50 years ago. I'm not trying to offend you, but this is the conclusion after reading in this forum all of the things NA truckers like. Give me one modern thing you like to see on a truck, except for a radio or TV.

Heavy is in relation to the maximum weight of the van. The maximum weight of a Vito (that is the van on the picture) is 6200, 6700 or 7050 lbs, depending on the wheelbase. The maximum weight of the trailer is 5500 lbs for all types. No company uses a van for 10 years, usually 4 or 5 years, if only for tax reasons. Then it is traded in for another one. No one over here uses the type of pickup or SUV that you mean. They are taxed as very heavy passenger cars, not as commercial vehicles, and that means you pay a fortune in road tax. They are very expensive, guzzle expensive fuel, can't be parked anywhere, so completely hopeless. There are a few around, mostly for promotional purposes.

Vans are not shipped to third world countries, at least not the way trucks are.

My trailer we tow behind the pickup tips the scales at over 6000 empty. Then load a tractor or two. Tri axle .

I worked with a guy who immigrated from Europe. He was always amazed at how heavy duty we built things here. What I gather from talking with him was much of the stuff built over in Europe is built to the bare minimum that would do the job. Nothing more, nothing less.

My tandem axle i move my bobcat with is only 4500 lbs. So bobcat trailer and extra attachment for bobcat plus 50 gallon fuel tank.. Well over 10k lbs. A full size suv can pull that. Let's see a mercedes minivan do it. Cause after all suvs are stupid and useless and minivans are much more better suited for the task.

Wait , I read that correctly ? Driving a pickup is too expensive ? Visit Texas! And grasp my pickup empty weighs more the that van fully loaded. Parking is a skill . One you most not have.

See sdaniel, you are just too uneducated to realize how much better off you would be to embrace a euro minivan and foregoing the truck and all the things you do with it.

My new 5.0L V8 F150 has seen 10.5L/100km. Not bad for a truck that tips the scales at 5400lbs. Definitely not a gas guzzler.

Last time I checked, Texas is not in Europe.
