Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

    I agree with you.;)
Should have been a rear steer, forced or self steering depended on your needs.
I'm willing to bet a sixpack you would have loved it instead off what you feel now.

Not necessary. It depends on the quality of the design. Simple badly designed objects may break where well designed complicated objects function flawlessly.

A modern European cabover has a cab with air suspension. The ride is so smooth that it rivals high end passenger cars. Does your cab has air suspension? The cab of the 2017 DAF XF is so quiet that you can't hear the engine, just the sound of the wind.

Do your cabs have any suspension? As far as I'm aware not. Will they get it? most likely not. So why don't you compare the actual ride of a US tractor with the actual ride of a EU tractor instead of using "what if" reasoning to proof that a US tractor could be more comfortable if the same technology was used that is already in use on EU tractors.

No, you wouldn't. For a very simple reason. You're a very conservative bunch, you lack the curiosity to look elsewhere how things are done there, and even if you would see their solutions are better, you would still look for all kind of reasons (fake or not) to explain why these solutions can not be applied in the US. This whole thread is filled with the evidence of that. Why do you think that the influence of the American automotive industry in the world is gone? Why do you think there is so much European influence in US truck building, and not the other way around?

It is possible to use European style trucks in the US, give the tractors a more roomy sleeper, and that's it. It is not possible to use NA trucks in Europe, or in most other parts of the world. Three guesses what is going to happen in the future, if companies want to save money by designing world products, with small adjustments for local markets.

I've driven 1993 dump trucks with air ride cabs, it's ubiquitous here, but there's roads that will bounce you HARD even with full air ride if your wheelbase is too short. Most highways out west have a bridge length on their cement roads that will hit resonance under 240".

Front one lifts ...... and is self steering

And in their defense I forgot that New York State is partially to blame . If you want reducible overweight permits on a new ( built after a certain date) tri-axle trailer if the front axle lifts it has to steer. But if back axle lifts it doesn't have to steer.....

    107,000 on six axles .....

Short wheel base day cab or better driving skills. 2 simple complex free options. Lots of new home construction down here in florida, with the exception of the collapse in 07/08 new construction never stops down here and I've been to many of these suburbs delivering building supplies. Manage just fine with a long conventional pulling a 48 ft trailer. sometimes it means i have to back out all the way to the main road. No problem.

They aren't sold here, therefore there is no demand for them. obviously others in the US don't have a different view or we would see them being sold in quantity.
