Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Buying one could be a bit of a problem in the USA. But I do have a solution for you. If you ever go to the PACCAR technology centre in Mount Vernon WA, then you can ask if you can see one.

The next videoclip may be of help, and have a drink ready, because you will need it after listening to the comments.

Checked your videos and what ? Super-Pooper trucks compared with workhorses. Do you think I will say Ah Ah Ah, EU has better trucks? NO MEN, NO. Your trucks are junk, loaded with all kind of sh*ty devices and technologies that will brake down here in USA within 2-3 years of exploitation . We see that every day here !
Keep your trash in your backyard. Don't push it on us. We don't need your junky technologies. Last month I was speaking with one of Freightliner dealer's service manager. I was shocked from what he said. They changed ~ 850 MCM/CPC/ACM/SAM modules on trucks within a years.
I don't need to go to PACCAR technology center. I was in Kenworth dealer few times in last week. The shops are full with MX engine trucks and sales yards are full of them too. ISX powered Kenworth has significant more value and sales 5x faster.. That is enough. Real truckers know what to buy and what to drive. I hope MX engines will go back there from where they came....... like MB4000..... :)

Oh, isn't that wonderful. One small video clip of an American trucker praising EU trucks, and Mr. mhyn goes berserk.

Yes, of course, so many EU trucks in the US.

Do the US trucks contain the same modules as the EU ones? Now, let's see. EU trucks have a 24V electric system, and NA trucks a 12V electric system. Now, how likely is it that both will use the same electric components? No, the US modules are made specifically for the US.
I'm not sure surprised. Those 'real truckers' don't know the MX engines, so by definition they must be bad, and certainly not trustworthy. All postings of NA truckers are the same, "we want technology that is at least 30 years old."

I get that, but for lots of reasons trucks become more complicated. That has nothing to do with EU or US trucks, both get more complicated. Blaming EU trucks for that is downright silly.

All of these new components have to do with the environment, or safety, or fuel efficiency, just name it. In my youth there were numerous truck brands. It wasn't difficult to build a truck, simple engines, simple brakes, simple gearboxes, simple cabs, and so on. A few decades later almost all those brands had disappeared, bought by other companies or just stopped producing. Trucks became more complicated, and they didn't have the money to make more sophisticated designs. And that was long before electronics appeared.

Electronics can be very reliable, it all depends on the design, and the quality of the components. You know as well as I do that manufacturers want to save every penny on a design. Sometimes they gamble that omitting a component, or using one on its max. capacity instead of a better one will do the job. And then the module will break down frequently. Wiring is another problem. The quality of cables and connectors, how waterproof are they. What kind of metal is used for the connector, and so on.

The time that you could repair a truck with just a screwdriver and a wrench is gone. But something similar applies to electronics and computers as well for instance. I've seen technicians measuring computerboards for faulty components, that time is long gone. Today it are just board swaps.

Easy fixes are gone. These days just must hope for technicians who really know how everything works, who understand the information of board computers and diagnose systems. That is a different breed of technician than the pure screwdriver and wrench type I'm afraid.

Heads failing , turbos failing , glue instead of exhaust gaskets, exhaust manifolds warping , all electronics fault? And yes a boat load of electronic nightmares. Sure there are more , but friend only has had the truck two months.

Biggest problem with those 3 trucks is: They would exceed N.A.s Steer axle weight Limit..

Volvo here in Australia have tried in vain to get the XXXL (I Think that's what they call It) cab here, but have struck the same issue..
