The manufacturers don't want old trucks on the road. They want to sell new ones with new technology, cleaner etc. So trucks don't last as long as they used to.

And this is exactly why we don't want your trucks. My 17 year old truck is practically maintenance free and when something does need fix its cheap to get parts and just as importantly very easy to work on.

Take my drum brakes for example. A balanced steel drum cost 120 bucks. A pair of shoes with new springs and rollers cost 50. Can change them out in under an hour. I get almost 5 years out of shoes and 10 out of the drum. And everyone stocks them. Compare this to disc brakes. How long does it take to change them, what do the parts cost and are they stocked by every parts store including the smaller ones like a napa in a one horse town?

Oh and about big sleepers here. While they aren't standard equipment, they aren't some rare specialized custom job like you seem to think either. Heck i know personally 50 guys that have them.

And some people are smart enough to not accept that.

His ad shows a 90 cm sleeper = 35.433 inches . Swift will give you a 70in sleeper.

Truly you never know what you are talking about! Having a job earning your pay check , then spending it on the goods and /or services you want , need or desire , is by no way socialist. And when was the last time YOU walked into a plant in Amercia ?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

No, the picture shows 90cm extra. The width of the sleeper section of the standard cab is 81cm as shown on this drawing, so in total the XXF cab has a 171 cm or 67.323 inch sleeper.

And where do you think you can go with an 17 year old truck in Europe? Nowhere, you can't enter important cities with these old stinkers. Every country in western Europe wants to have Euro 6 trucks only on the road to improve the air quality.

Did it ever occur to you that the brakes on a truck are there to be able to brake? Disk brakes do a far better job in braking, that's why drum brakes are obsolete now. For you low maintenance costs are more important than road safety.

And like I wrote, you can do that on a Euro trucks as well.
