Yes, sure, with additional tuning you can get much more power, but what are the consequences for the durability etc. DAF tested the design of the MX-13 by racing a 1500HP version of it. I don't think you would like to have such a version in your truck.

Its easy to make big power in diesel engines. I know a couple guys with 700hp Cummins engines in their pickups. Yes they tow a 14,000lb trailer and drive the truck daily too.

look at rear end of chassis, there is transfer case and axle is turn upside down so driveshaft enter into axle from back
