I wish I'd had steps like that in my old 9700. Clinging to the wiper with one hand and scrubbing with the other was not the best part of my day.

I never owned or drove an autocar. There was a couple retired ones sitting behind the barn but none roadworthy when i got to the age that i could be tossed in a trick and told to take it to xyz cause bonehead driver didn't show up on time or got arrested last night at the bar.

I dare you to find a tougher truck than a mid 90's Volvo Autocar though. They could out-tough a pre-Daimler era Western Star.

You know, this is really funny.

Someone posts a video of a new Mack truck, and immediately the whole choir of grumpy old men starts singing an ode to the trucks of days gone by.

You're always looking backwards, never forward.

It's a kind of trucker version of "Those were the days" with Archie Bunker. :)

Yet you forget , someone showing you point by point why we do not use Euro trucks . Then show you that we can get 50% better fuel mileage . While going 20% faster. Well just point at disk brakes, something we developed . Even dealing point by point like you asked , you just put your nose in the air.

3 steps is not twice of 2.... steps here are not like your from ribbed aluminium, they have very strong profiles that bite into your shoes,MB use rubber antislip material, arocs use high profiled bottom step to stop mud, and prevent mud to be spreaded on upper steps so they provide better contact. other brands use very agressive profiles

problem with entrance is once you have wide cab steps have to be vertical and it is hard to create them to get reasonable angle to create space for knees.

they often move floor edge into cab to create some additional space for more horizontal direction.
in this case you have to make bulge on door for bottles/gloves to fit into recess you made in floor. than this bulge obstruct driver when climbing into cab....finding good ratio between horistonal move of steps and bulge might be tricky. for example MB have too steep steps for my taste, doors open really wide and no bulge on doors. scania have lot of horiztonal distance but bulge is too large, something in between would be for my taste.

I'm not a fan of disc brakes. I've never seen them last as long as drum brakes in the mud. I drove a C5500 GMC with juice disc brakes and I was lucky to make 10,000km on a set of rotors. Mud would just eat them right up.

You know if we're Archie bunker , your the meathead .
The Mercedes engine you pawned off on us was junk ,
the Volvo d16 was junk ,
and the mx13 is junk ,
but we should trust the next big idea ?
no one wants a cabover here , except a few knot heads who never had to live in one.

Cat sdp and spyder7723 Thank this.

I wouldn't say no one wants a cab over. But definately not enough demand for a manufacturer to produce one.
