I drove cabovers for 15 years , I'll bet no one with my experience in cabovers , wants to give them a try.
There are so many reasons they are crap , the only reason anyone would consider them is length restrictions.
I know the new ones are great , but,
I'd rather just lift my hood to check oil, coolant, belts , hoses , wires and lines.
And make any minor repair .
Climbing in and out of one in all kinds of weather , no thanks .
    More wheelbase equals better ride.
You can only polish a turd so much , they're still butt ugly .
I'll take a classic truck with a big sleeper

    Oxbow Thanks this.

And let's not forget the bridge laws , they make a cabover impracticable in the US for any trailer 40 ft or less

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Nah. You just need more truck frame. Few things look as good as a k100 with a covered wagon 15 feet behind the rear wall of the sleeper.

It defeats the purpose of a cabover , and I remember when they would stretch cabovers frames to defeat the bridge laws .
Why would anyone want a new short wheelbase euro cabover , or order one with a stretch frame , none of it makes much sense to me

    Oxbow and sdaniel Thank this.

There are days i miss my k100. But like you said I'd never want to live in one again. But if i had an easy long term gig lined up that only kept me out i might get another. But as long as im spending more than a night in the truck.. I'm keeping my hood.

    Oxbow and W9onTime Thank this.

Hell yeah , my dad had a k100 , it was only marginally better then my cabover freight liner .
I'm going to have nightmares if I keep reminiscing

I should of added, if the day comes that i do get another k100 the first thing im doing is adding frame rail. 280 or 300 I'm not sure of. But she will be stretched out.

    W9onTime Thanks this.

And wasting lots of fuel (=money!!), an aerodynamic nightmare.............

What is the wheelbase of the average NA tractor? I found a value of 230 inch, is that a normal value? I assume it is measured from the front axle to the last rear axle?
