some of us don't want european technology, and your metric system!. that's why the united states was founded to get away from all that stuff. globilization is not a good thing. were perfectly happy with how we do things. although there is some portion of the populace that would love a one world government..

Its the rest of the world that's moved away from the imperial system which began in the UK ....so it's a system adopted by the US, here's a map of the countries not using metric http://www.zmescience.com/other/map-of-countries-officially-not-using-the-metric-system/
the advantages of metric is a no brainer, the US will have to go that way eventually, it's pointless resisting. A one world government is still in the realm of conspiracy theories and fantasy in my opinion

What I meant was it's better for the consumer if everything's metric, opens up new markets and brings down prices

really it is impossible to stop mixing imperial and metric units. for example in Europe water fittings are all in inches.

Ok, air system fittings are available of imperial and metric sizes and transer fittings are available on market. I can easily fit European brake chamber on my freightliner just changing 1/2" fitting to M16x1.5

As Scania man stated the Imperial sytem was a British system , just as English was a British language , both imported and standardized in the US.
On of the US's biggest strengths is that they will take what is good from all over the world and commercialize it.
Then sell it back to the world.
Somehow this seemed to bypass the metric system and trucking technology.
Probably because there was no money in it.

Scania man and Schwinder Thank this.
