    rated power is one thing, real power is different, and even if engine is called 460 does not mean it really have this. early mx were lot more powerful than latter ones. this is probably cause of many failures as they were bit too optimistic, here daf had orders from factory to adjust settings after rebuild, turbo pressure was lowered from 1.9-2.0bar to 1.4bar, feel was like it have 50hp less.
    almost every euro 6 engine is weaker than its predecesso. my cousin own one from 2006 which is overhauled twice. it is analog so he says he will keep it as long as it is possible as it earns more than its euro6 brother. that truck is always pushed to max. goal is to make 3 trips to itally in week, driver must be home on weekend and if possible one night during week. it is job where you sleep 5 max 6 hours as there is lot of load handling. eat once per day. often sleep work and drive in same cloth. load securing takes time so they dont strap anything...... btw there are some guys who can make 4 of these per week. how dont ask

    most manufacturers keep right for tolerances, most of them keep 5% as normal. in car world bmw is famous for lying hp (lower numbers). in truck world volvo used to write larger numbers in 16l just to be strongest on market (660,700). you can do about 5% adjustements which are not forbidden. most of older mb are adjusted in this way. my friend says his 1841 goes same as his 1846.

    I don’t have sales statistics, but from looking around most Mx’s must be 1650........ the fleets ain’t gonna buy a 1850.

    Power of course is a combination of torque and RPM. The tendency is to increase cylinder pressure (and fuel injection pressure), and I'm sure you will agree that cylinder pressure causes torque. More torque with lower RPM. Higher RPM means higher specific fuel consumption. So a modern engine like the MX (and others) should be more powerful at low RPM. That is exactly what they did with the latest version of the MX, increase torque at lower RPM, so I wonder if you have any experience with these latest versions of the MX (and other engines)

    That is not the way drivers should work, it is dangerous. That's why Dutch police is always checking East European drivers, and sometimes (often) they find drivers who clocked far to many hours.

    No wonder with 50% more HP .........

    I see, well they should have a look at the 430MT and 455MT. MT stands for Multi Torque, all European versions of the MX-13 are Multi Torque engines. If the truck is running in top gear (with a gearbox where top gear is direct drive) or in the two highest gears (a gearbox with overdrive), the engine will have more torque (and HP) than in lower gears.

    @Caesar

    Do you know something about derooy ginaf trucks for hauling not racing. With only front wheel drive and normal chassis height. I know they have ginaf trucks with really small rear tires. And i know they have man tga with only fwd but with high chassis.
    I am wondering how did ginaf solve this problem, my only guess is portal axle rotated upside down and differential moved to side (next to oil pan)

    Don't worry. This was in Australia. It is not going to swim accross the ocean.
    Only Haycarter and others down under have to be carefull.

    Even then, if it is anything like the Mack V8 (just like Scania's, same bloodlines), it's bark is worse than it's bite......;););););)
