Yes ....now they don’t even use the granular kind of rock salt. They make it into a liquid and pour it on the road ..
We are well on the way to being a 3rd world country..... and it pains me to say that.....
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

We have that system too over here. It is specifically targeted at black ice etc, rock salt is blown away.
Yes, the American people deserves better. But the American people should also start to think about ways to reverse that trend. The next time some candidate promises you lower taxes, think about what is going to be scrapped. Nothing is for free, proper roads, proper schools, a proper judicial system, it all costs money.98989 Thanks this. -
You forget the lower gross weight (80000lbs) most USA trucks run at compared to EU trucks.KVB Thanks this.

Our highway vehicles corrode a lot faster from road chemicals today thank they used to cause the environmentalist forced us to stop using things like rock salt, and use supposedly more environmentally friendly but much more corrosive chemicals.
Another important now is that your parents were here during one of the worst winter storms in recent history. So the road conditions were not what you would see during/after a typical storm.
I have no idea of how our snow and ice removal compared to your region of the world, i'm just saying you need to use more than a historically bad storm as a comparison.Last edited: Jan 8, 2018

Look at these nit-wits......
Instead of pushing that snow from the left lane to the left some bureaucrat wants that snow to be pushed over to the right...... -

Pretty sure a 500 or 525 ISXe5 has Broader Torque Curve than the MX13..
No idea how this compares what you Guys in the U.S.A. get though.. -
Facts mean nothing .....
haycarter and spyder7723 Thank this. -
We usually don't get that much snow. I only remember the winter of 1978/1979 when we had a lot of snow in one or a few days. People from other districts in my town phoned in that they could come, no cars or buses were riding, but my colleague who had to start at 06.00AM was there. He lived about 10 miles away, and he came on his bicycle. He had just climbed over the hills of snow that were on the road. Many small towns were unreachable. but it took some effort to convince the central government that we needed some help. So they send a helicopter to see what was going on, and then the army came with dozer tanks to clear the roads and rescue people from trains that were stuck in the snow.

Those are the older Euro V engines. The present Euro VI engines are at least two generations newer, and have very different characteristics.
That is hard to say, for the simple reason that your ISX brochure doesn't even show torque values below 1150 RPM!
