Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

There were several very cold periods that winter, it started in November 1978, and the last period was indeed in March 1979.
There was a snowstorm around 1 January 1979, but the real big one was on 14 February 1979. Villages and farms were completely cut off, and couldn't be reached for days. -
A new graph for you:
The difference between the X15E and X15P is remarkable. At 900 RPM the X15E is much better, and only at about 1050 RPM the X15P has the same torque. You can clearly see that the X15P is meant to run a a higher RPM. The X15E and MX-13 510 have a similar torque curve between 1000 and 1700 RPM. However between 800 and 1000 RPM the MX-13 is (much) more powerful, and over 1700 RPM the X15E has more torque.
It's also interesting to see that the European MX-13 has a much wider flat curve than the US version. I wonder why the US version wasn't build the same way as the European one. -
Why do I get the feeling you weren’t born yet.....?spyder7723 Thanks this.

We also use salt on our roads. Most of the trucks we use for that purpose are owned by private companies. They are not very busy in the winter months, so their trucks can be used for putting salt on the road. A salt container with spreader is loaded on the back of the truck, and if necessary a snow shovel is mounted at the front. On the main roads Rijkswaterstaat (the state water board) is responsible for doing this. Why a water board? Well, it was founded in 1798 when roads were not important, but dikes, canals etc. were very important. Over the years they got the roads as well. As you can see on the last picture, the minister of the Department for Infrastructure and Environment is very proud of her board. -

You guys usually did not get much snow due to the more milder atlantic climate.
At the foothills of the Bavarian Forest, we got snow and zome cold snaps during the winter.
The big and heavy surprise came late March.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I recall a video from that area a year ago I believe one of your truckers turned in a beautiful but dangerous passage on a small road in a land of deep snow and mountain hills. I enjoyed it very much, but frankly I can show you some of ours here in the United States that will make your eyes pop. If you get up to about say 12000 or higher on a clear day you can see 60+ miles just about.
We have a small set of mountains known as the Sierra East, which is the eastern face towards Nevada you should visit sometime during winter. Its treacherous during the rain season in Cali. It runs to big fat flakes that will knock you over and then bury you in a few hours. -
I know how it feels when the snowballs come down on you.
I still somehow miss the mountains, even after ten years in Canada now. Not so much for winter driving.
Manitoba has nothing to compare in that regards. The advantage in Manitoba simply is, you know on Thursday already who's stopping by on Saturday for coffee. You see them already.x1Heavy Thanks this.
