Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

On a side note......a Dutchman has become the n°2 at Paccar.
The former Director off Daf is now president off Paccar. -
Seems like
But nobody says about man 15L.
I think it is impossible that scania would let v8 to man. I think it is easy possible that man would be like renault, no big engines -
Yes, indeed it is a spreader. It is loaded with grit, not salt, and I doubt if it will be spreading grit (or salt) all over that trailing plough. I would say it is used as ballast when it is pulling that plough. Furthermore, in the description that our good friend mr. sdaniels posted of this contraption, the tank was described as a ballast tank, which makes sense. So no salt brine to spread.......

Hard to believe since they install it im tgl, i am pretty sure d08 cant be higher than scanias own 13L which fits into P cab.
Maybe scania offers cummins because of engine tunnel, with 7L engine tunnel is 95mm lower and thereby usable for third seat -
I was just typing about D38 MAN. You beat me to it......

While the trailer is off to the side the truck can be spreading..... you do know that they can set a pattern while spreading.... left , right etc.....
I’m sure that tank on the trailer can apply liquid to the road surface..... if they can’t , why not just put a concrete block there......Oxbow Thanks this. -
And yet there is something that doesn't seem logical. MAN is a real engine builder, from very small engines to huge 100,000 ship engines and gas turbines. Their diesels are not only used in trucks, but in all kind of equipment, agricultural machines, generators, railway cars and locomotives, ships, named it. Scania does no such thing, so if MAN would no longer build a certain range of engines, there would also be a gap in their product portfolio for non-truck engines. Doesn't make sense.

It is true that they build all engines with really wide range. However if you look better you will not find d38 outside of trucks. No lying version as much i know.
Market share of big man engines is very low comparing to scania. Scania sells half of market engines of around 600hp.
Gap makes sense, Man will(already is) become cheap brand like skoda in cars comparing to audi in trucks.
If scania loses v8 they can close company -
MAN is offering the D3876 for other purposes: "This was followed by the unveiling of the further development of the D3876 as an engine for installation in agricultural engineering and construction equipment at Agritechnica 2015 and bauma 2016." It is seen as the successor to the D2868 V8.
Not yet, may still come.
Maybe so, but MAN didn't develop this engine for no reason. I assume it is more fuel efficient than its predecessor.
When we look at the VAG cars, we see that VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat have overlapping product lines. You can buy a similar car from all four brands. That is not the case with MAN and Scania, Scania has no light and medium trucks, it is more directed at heavy trucks. MAN wants to offer anything from vans to heavy trucks.
Maybe, but only as long as that V8 is efficient enough. There's a good reason that MAN went from a V8 to a six-in-line, the latter is more fuel efficient.
