Things i don't like in NA trucks

1-small 8.25" rims , nearly each EU tire has 2200lb. Of extra rating weight per rim
2-a few hours driving feel like u drove all day long with stiff susp.
3-gearbox, u might consume 1 gearbox before master shifting.
4- i do disagree, that they look more macho, side by side , NA truck look tiny with a motor home attached to the capin
    5- imperial & metric combination
6- cheap corporate saving by cutting little thing such as tire vendor, 1.5 leave spring, prime pump etc
7-again corporate US thinking or lack of thinking , in the 70s they were more american trucks overseas.then the focus shifted to local market , end up selling most of the industry to EU companies.
8- over priced after market items for nearly anything cosmetic

why you ever need more load on steer?

    BS.

Normal driver will learn to shift in 200 miles. Not every gearbox even within same manufacturer allows you to switch "clean", thats true.

They look way better than any euro truck.

    Thanks to globalization. )

Grip, especially in the winter. Would hate to drive with under 15400lbs (7 ton, hope I did the conversation right). Once you tried you will understand it also. The combination behave so much better and you will get over steer instead of the disgusting under steer that none can do anything against when it happen.
Around 19 000lbs is a more suitable steer weight (close to 9 ton)

Scania man and Schwinder Thank this.

Maybe. I have never had an issue with steer grip. Literally, my t680 hold the road same way as my 4x4 A6... )

Understeer is a big issue on winter roads and during break up in canada, light steers combined with tandem drive axles are the cause of many 'going off the road' accidents, the European truck with a heavy front end behaves much better in these conditions, when I arrived in canada I spoke to the company safety officer about this very issue, I wanted the fifth wheel further forward to get more weight onto the steers but he wouldn't allow it to stay legal

    Schwinder Thanks this.
