The Actros does not have a Detroit diesel. Mercedes developed a new series of diesel engines that were to be used in NA, Japan and Europe. They started producing them first (2007) in NA as Detroit diesel DD13, DD15 and DD16, and later (2009) in Japan as Mitsubishi 6R10 (DD13). This was done because of the emission standards in the US and Japan at that time. The European versions of these engines OM471, OM472, and OM473 followed later. Some parts of all of these engines are made in Germany, others in the US, and some parts for the NA market are produced in South Africa. The US engines, the European engines and the Japanese engines differ in certain parts.

Actually, KW was developing a super aero COE before length laws were changed.with the new relaxed laws, they grabbed a new piece of paper and started all over. The result was the T600. Look at one of those now and it looks kind of boxy, but that's what started the aero conventional.

Actually no it isn't if we are counting the EU countries against the continous 48 states. If you are counting all of Europe along with Western Russia then yes Europe is larger.

No, they are Mercedes designed engines, sold under the brand names of Detroit, Mitsubishu and Mercedes. Daimler indeed owns Detroit.

Well the Actros is the world record holder for fuel efficiency.
Aerodynamics play a huge role so I doubt they would try going for the record with their second best offering.

Overall area would be bigger but take for instance Ireland to Greece or Estonia to portagul is roughly the same distance as New York to Los Angeles, many trucks go past these borders, some go down into Africa and more into the Middle East and some across Russia over to the Chinese border regularly
