I'm not too sure about truck specific loans, but I bought a new car earlier in the year with the help of a Personal loan of $15k , the rate I'm on is 12.5%. Just a Comparison for the loan rates

A 5 year loan on a truck or car will cost you 8-9%, longer term loans on lets say a house or a building would be 1-4%

i am talking about time when old truck become more expensive to keep than new truck , especially when you have pretty expensive man labor at shops , when you lose few days because of breakdown...

here hour at offical service is about 42-50$ hour, local shops would charge you about 25-27$/h
i often see that people here at forum ask something about trucks they are interested to buy from 1992 or 1994 ,
we have already exported all of those trucks ,most of those 15year old lot of those 10year old
recently one wheel at four axle man leaked, change one u join on driveshaft
i have MB from 1987 , and have lot of problem to find some parts , even MB is most common truck here , i needed recently small part that comes on door, on which you mount mirror carrier and could not find it , luckily same one from MAN fits, now i need gear that come inside of left window , and button that controls right window,
also need pipe about 4inch long which is housing for exhaust brake for left side of engine, it cost 400€ in crap quality, and nearly 1000€ at mercedes

Why would you need less cash?

here companies buy new equipment at end of year because on this way they have more expenses that means this write off from their tax , so they have to pay less for tax at every year , and if you pay truck in 5years you gain lot of free space by this way

those things have to do with market, i think even if you manage to sell truck there, and if it fits to local regulation they would have to pay lot on it so you came on same thing

before during communism we had to pay another amount of truck , in tax customs and other things

in brazil trucks are ~2.2x more expensive than here , even plants are there and production costs are lower

Shop rates are outrageous here, some as high as $120/hour, the problem I see is that the more modern the truck the more reliant you are on a dealership. An older truck most everything can be done with basic hand tools, and most people that still run older equipment do the work themselves.

Cab parts will always be an issue, we may be better off as most companies used the same basic layout for a very long time and parts are interchangeable.

When I done heavy haul we shipped a lot of big machines to Australia, we also shipped a few trucks, most were stuff like hino tippers but there was a demand for second hand 6x4 tractors which are a rarity here.

This is an irish export in Australia , you can tell it's irish cos of the yellow marker boards on the side [IMG]

i would agree on you here, about old and new trucks and not just trucks generally products,

but what happens when it get too used, too old , too much km/milles , when all parts are worn

one of reasons why we still have this MB even it is 27year old , is its simplicity and robustness, i dont remember when we changed last time air filters i guess about 6years ago , although it always work in dust , you just remove them and blow and put back , it can start at any temp ,(dont have heaters like new engines) , it can drive on any fuel and any oil , since we fill fuel at construction sites from often dirty tanks and from barrels new trucks dont like this , this truck is one of best of its model in my country , and there is no breakdowns(about 1000€ spent in 7years) ,but problem gets if something go wrong , all of these trucks are already exported, even 10 and 15year younger ones ,

other reason why we have it , because my father want to drive this model until his retirement , this would be round 40years since he drive it.
he is kind of guy who dont care for new things, if they still make it he would buy it

about old and new trucks and not just trucks generally products become more complicated and i hate this, whatever you do you have to spend about equal time to put all those plastics back as you spend to fix something

, yesterday old friend from school return from germany and we went to bar , he asked me if we would go in 6km in one club , i say i cant my light dont work , i say i hate to change this as there is no space , i say i need 10minutes to do this, because battery is there

he say dont crap , on my car i have to remove that plastic around wheel to access light, i trough my car have worst access to this

i even buy used left headlight to see better how to change bulb , because you cant see anything just space for two finger
