Why do so many truckers pack themselves into rest areas?

To determine if a truck stop is full, assuming you aren't familiar with how it usually works, then you must actually pull in and drive around to see for yourself, correct? Or do you first try asking on cb? Or is there some other criteria for making that determination without losing time to check it yourself?

If the driveway in is full then try driving to the back. Madison, Georgia last week I could barely get in the driveway but the entire back row was open. Lazy Ba$$tards.

fleet, I carry Clorox wipes for the steering wheel after it's been in the shop,if needed. Clorox spray for showers and such.

germs are actually good for your immune system. helps keep it active. shoot i even encouraged my kids to eat dirt. lol really. just a little.
they made mud pies and I actually ate some. lots of new germs for my body to fight and become immune to.

    that's how you become immune.

I ask over the CB. Usually start about 2 miles out from it. Right when I first see the big glowing sign on the horizon with fuel prices.

I don't understand that. I've seen drivers worried about who had the truck before them. I just clean the whole thing out. Heck, I even detail my current one (which I've had since new) every week. Down to using an antibacterial surface cleaner to mop the floors. Then everything gets cleaned, carpets, seats, sleeper area, etc. Then all Armoralled and air freshened. ;)

my truck looks... well... lived in. lol.

weekends are spent home as I'm regional, so I don't have the long hours spent sitting in it bored.

I'll pick up the carpet pieces and shake the big chunks out.

    Milr72 Thanks this.

Haha yeah eat the dirt itll make you strong :biggrin_25523:

Well I look at it like this. Ill never get the thing clean enough for my comfort level so I wear gloves while driving so I can still touch or scratch my face or rub my eyes by taking a glove off. I let my work area in front of cab be what it be and keep the back as neat and lysoled up as possible. Never will I lay down dirty. I put a sheet over the bunk if I need to nap during the work shift. Bed has to be clean the rest is sort of a lost cause. Funny that would be my reaction because its a little nutty and counterintuitive.

I plan where im going to stop before i even start for the day/night, i take a look at the map and use the DAT trucker app to look for t/s's or wally worlds, if its going to be a ts ill call them withe the number the app gives me and ask the mgr when they usually fill up at in the evening 9 times out of 10 they give me a good idea of what time i need to get there
