Please explain why it is that so many truck drivers drive in the middle lane when clearly there's no one in the right lane? Generally these trucks are going slower than those in the right lane.

Don't have to dodge traffic getting on the interstate or slow down for people getting off the interstate.

Safety. Cars merge in all the time and more then once ive tried to be that "polite" trucker then get trapped over there when some moron texting on his phone merges in doing 10MPH and some ####### in a BMW sees my blinker go on then floors it to get beside me because "oh noes!!!! Its a big slow truck, how DARE he get infront of me!" And now im forced to drop 3 or 4 gears and try to get my 80k truck back upto speed on a gods ###### hill while doing 30MPH and being a #### road hazard.

If there are 3 lanes and the guy in the middle is going too slow then there are 2 other lanes to go around him in.

It differs. I276 pa pike middle lane is the safer place to be, but Somewhere like the Ohio turnpike it’s a bit ignorant.

It’s one thing if traffic is heavy in an urban area. I understand why the slower trucks are in the middle.

It’s another thing entirely if the traffic is light and the right lane is perfectly safe to travel in without tons of merging traffic.

I get that often either having to pass the douche in the left no truck lane or in the right lane. Either choice is bad. F that douche for not knowing what lane to put his slow governed truck in.

And when you pass him on the right they NEVER make eye contact with you, always looking straight ahead. It's like they KNOW they're being a dumb ##* but don't care.

no offense but why would they be trying to make eye contact with you? and why would you want them to? so you can show them your angry face or something? just pass them and move on.

I learned a few years back that some companies teach their drivers not to use the mirrors because they are only “liable for what’s in front of them.” They use the center lane so they don’t have to use the mirrors.

The automated trucks will do the same thing.
