Question - does anyone know why some 379s have a 6 digit odometer and some have a 7 digit odometer? Doesn’t appear to be based on model year. I’ve seen some older 379s (pre interior update) with both 6 or 7 mechanical odometers and seen some of the new ones with digital odometers in both 6 or 7. Seems random. I’m looking for a 379 RV holler and been shopping! Thx

I have a 1991 379 with a 6 digit odo. Since you already mentioned the age window, I can only suggest perhaps location the truck was assembled or supplier of parts to manufacturer. Good question.

I've got a 2000 with seven digit, and an 03 with a six digit. The 2000 has a separate mileage indicator, and the 03 is in the speedometer itself. I was kind of wondering the same thing when I noticed that way back

Gauge package it was specced with. There were a few options over the years. Order sheet shows the factory codes. Premium o/o spec usually had 7 digits. Had to do with actual interior package in some. Friend of my uncle ordered a 7 digit back in ‘94. They mistakenly delivered it with a 6. He had it changed out at dealer.

Just to add. Pete also offered a 100 mph speedo with 7 digits special order thru the right channels.

Thanks for the replies. I guess it boils down to how it was spec’d out. The beauty of customization!!
