Hey all, I generally see truckers driving safely and competently, I respect them in my driving habits and generally observe them doing the same. However, ocaisionally I will have a driver pull right into my lane just as soon as I pass him, within a single car length of my back bumper. This strikes me as extremely dangerous and doesnt make sense. If I see your turn signal come on as I'm coming past I will speed up or slow down as much as is resonable to let you over faster, or even switch into the next lane if I can, so its not like they're upset that I'm just lingering there blocking them in. Just seems like they're risking killing me and ending their career if I should have to stop suddenly while I'm that close in front of them. This has become an almost weekly occurance with the miles I am driving now, and I just cant see any reason for this kind of behavior, any insight from you drivers on here?
Why do some drivers engage in this dangerous practice?

Cars go faster than trucks, and I am hoping you going at least 4 above speed limit, becouse it's recommended and don't speed up or slow down, just drive normally like you do.
-
Speeding is recommended? Got a legal source to link to please?.LGarrison, Truckergirl0720 and Big Don Thank this. -
I do not have a link, but when I was still in high school getting my license. I've visited The police station. The cop told me, it is recommended you go 4 over to keep traffic flowing. Since than, I've always drove 4 over.heyns57 Thanks this.

It's because they want that lane before someone closes the gap most drivers run on the limiter ... This is the same reason a lot of them tailgate they are going as fast as truck will allow and don't have enough to pass and are too stubborn to back off a few lengths.. I disagree with both practices but see it a lot up here in Canada due to some provinces mandatory limiter rule that your government is also trying to put in place . Which will only cause more angry interactions between the two motoring groups

I've seen more then one person stopped for going 1-4 mph over the legal limit. So I would have to say that town clown gave you some bad advice.Truckergirl0720, Big Don and SHO-TYME Thank this. -
the 2 things I have underlined.
first, why is it that every time someone has a beef with truckers, it has to have killing involved..???
second, you claim to have some respect for yours and thiers driving habits. that being said, if you are a good car driver, then you would have NO reason to stop suddenly, as you'd be well aware of what is ahead of you and to your sides.
in other words, you TOO would be PAYING ATTENTION.
I can highly assure you that we DO NOT RISK KILLING YOU..
rather, it is YOU doing something RISKY around big trucks, that can cause YOUR DEATHRick Brown, wall_404 and SHO-TYME Thank this. -
Thinking that big trucks dont cause accidents is just deceiving yourself. We have a lot of CDL holders who should not be driving.
Your in for a real surprise one day thinking that tail gating is safe. Hope you can afford a good lawyer, your gonna need one.LGarrison, Truckergirl0720, 91B20H8 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Never said truckers do not cause accidents, and by the way, didn't the AAA say something that in truck/car accident's the car driver is many more times at fault? YOU look that up, since YOU always want proof.
and never said tailgating was safe, where did you read either statement from me saying so.>??
In fact, this driver just made this statement, in posting number 10, please take your valuable time to read it...

The truck driver is the professional (paid to drive) so regardless of others actions the truck driver needs to do their best to be safe. Every day we see drivers being aggressive and offensive. Not defensive like they should be.
Your reply to the OP makes it evident that your a tailgater.Mr.X Thanks this.
