Im glad someone grasped what I've been saying, I feel like I've been trying to explain to a toddler why he shouldn't stick a fork in the light socket.

I had a funny one last week. I was in the left lane getting ready to pass JB Hunt. We were coming up to a get on ramp where Celedon was getting on. I backed out of it to let JB in front of me so Celedon could merge on. Most guys will accelerate gradually when they first get on and let the guy who moved over back in front of them. Not this Celedon guy. He matched JB's speed and would not let him get back in front.

After a couple of minutes I saw some traffic behind me coming up so I merged in behind Celedon, backed out of it and said on the CB

"Looks like we got ourselves a turtle race" another driver came back with "Its all good everyone can't have a fast truck" I said "I'm a turtle too" and explained the situation back to him about how Celedon left this guy hanging out to dry. At this point Celedon backed out of it and let JB pass him and merge. The O/O I was talking to went by followed by a couple of cars and a Swift Lease operator. I just stayed behind Celedon.

Celedon obviously thought Swift was me. He swerved into the left lane cut him off and backed it down to 60 for about 30 seconds before getting back over just to F with him. That guy was a real piece of work.

Bottom line is it isn't how fast the truck is its common sense. I pass slightly slower trucks because I want to be able to maintain a decent following distance. Sometimes I back out of it for a while so as not to run with a pack of traffic. If someone wants to pass me governed about the same I will back out of it rather than run beside him. Some guys are A holes. Others are just distracted and or clueless.

YOU THINK???? Obviously, you don't think!

What? Are you a professional race car driver? Are you confusing the highway with your race track?

Hypothetical: If a highway is posted at 65 LIMIT, a truck is doing 64 in the right lane, I'm doing 65 in the left lane to pass him, everything is kosher.

If a car's driver is whining about being 'held up' because of me, they have NO BASIS FOR COMPLAINT. Any faster than 65 can be given a SPEEDING TICKET. Following too closely behind ANY vehicle, ESPECIALLY a large truck, can be given a RECKLESS DRIVING TICKET.

Maybe THAT driver should have left their origin early enough to get to their destination on time WHILE DOING LESS THAN THE SPEED LIMIT.

Just food for thought, that no one who needs to consume it will... :biggrin_25513:
