Why do truckers on here seem to hate CR England?

12 cents per mile according to a CRE driver I spoke to in Washington state. What's not to love about that?

CR England is like more than a few of the other "training megas". They take advantage of naive people coming into the trade. They pay miserable wages, knowing there's more coming through the pipeline who don't know any better, and will work for cheap and/or will take on a lease that is doomed for failure on the lessee side, but it's okay on the lessor side because they just shove that driver out the door and plug another newer driver right back in, and the cycle continues.

It's just a shady way overall to conduct business ... taking advantage of desperate people.

I'm sure you can decline lease purchase, and then when they get mad at you for doing so, they give you 1200 miles on a good week.... You can manage to live out of a truck, eating out of a truck stop, for under 300 a week, can't you?

And yes, it can be all that bad. That's why there are so many people trying to figure out how to get out of their contract.

Oh, and if they think you aren't performing well enough, they'll find some BS reason to fire you, and yes, you still do owe them money back for the training. And they do their best to blackball you by telling other companies that you are under contract with them and that you can't work for anyone else without fulfilling your contract.

Yes, it can be all that bad. Why are you so dead set on going to one of the worst of the worst out of even the crappy megas?

Have you checked with Prime. I know they have their quirks, but you could go company for at least the 1st year.

    Do you have family? etc.

    Dan.S and IluvCATS Thank this.

Their arrogance. A long time ago we read in a trade magazine about how they took pains to boast of having 600+ Reefer engines for each trailer and all are flawless enough to keep only two spares on hand. Their words on paper.

I don't know about you, but when a reefer gets to coughing and not feeling well running a fever, burning up that precious temperature controlled cargo back there, it's time to fix it pronto. It will be a awful far drive to get to one of those two spares they bragged on.

@biddlydiddly .. i know it, by now, seems as if all of us are raving whack jobs that live to kick a man for simply asking a question.. and to a point that's accurate. YOU MUST DEVELOP A THICK SKIN TO TREAD THESE WATERS..
That said.. there's a lot of truth interspersed within the snide comments.
We are out here. We see the finished product. We see their inability to function in a stress situation due to rushed training.
We see the accidents. We hear the horror stories and we pass them along to you when you ask our thoughts.

CRE is not the only place to train.
It could rank highly amongst the worst, at least by rep.
Prime.. FFE.. Swift.. all could be much better options.
If you can ONLY qualify for CRE.. you don't belong out here to begin with.
Fix what disqualifies you at other training locales.

Also.. any place that would encourage a NOOB to become a lease op and shoulder all of that responsibility is a screaming red flag.
You need time to learn how to safely operate and function daily for a good while before you take on that burden.
It's much more than buying the fuel and collecting big checks.
Step back and absorb the wisdom we do offer.
For what it's worth... we old codgers DO recognize the value of properly trained new blood.
