I don't think so. Either one can get your insurance cancelled and put you out of business. But you can evade a judgement, whereas not paying a fine can land you in jail.

well, after 48 years, any company i ever worked for, never got thier insurance cancelled, and the DOT cops never chased me.

meaning, i think they could have cared any less, about driving past them, when they were full.

Mist weigh stations I've seen have signs stating to bypass when full so of course you wont be chased. Even if it doesn't have that sign, it would be dumb for them to chase you if stopping would have created an unsafe situation as (if you have a dash cam) all you'd have to do is fight the ticket and show the video that it was a safety risk

I blew past one in PA the same way. Had just passed a slower truck, went around a bend and suddenly theres the open weigh station. Truck ahead of me locked his brakes to get stopped on the ramp and I didn't even bother trying because if I did manage to stop I still would have had the back of my trailer in the middle of the lane right around a bend.

You learn which ones have chase cars and a reputation of coming after you. I-40 west bound coming into AZ you can run all day long. The eastbound one coming out of CA is a different story. Lol. My favorite is how people actually still stop and check in at the WY ports of entry.

Some states (like Oregon for instance) keep a log of your truck either by your prepass transponder or with a camera shot of your license plate every time you blow off a scale house when you're supposed to go in. I know this because the last company I worked for had a driver that never stopped, and the rest of us got pulled in every time because our score was messed up from this one driver. He was eventually fired.

OR has signs about photo enforcement of bypass. ID has chase cars at every scale. Just comes down to learning which ones you can cruise by.

Montana at the old po dunk scales that look like they been there from the 1800s that ol boy with his pickup will chase u down, lights and sirens a blazing. Seems like the only scales open in montana is the old crappy ones . Always doing inspections

Check station, Las Vegas I-15 south at Apex, just passed the Love's, lines up on the shoulder at times with NO trucks even in the inspection bay. They have the ability to turn off the flashing yellow light when needed but instead jeopardize the safety of the drivers and motoring public by allowing it to back up. It has been open alot since they put the electronic signs up. Never seen anyone chased and dash cams are a great tool when it comes to weigh/check station overflow out onto the shoulder or highway. 110 degrees and they wear black uniforms, HA!
