Yes we know this and IF I had my way we would move away from AM to FM and digital too. Also i would push for a expanded MURS ( VHF CB ) since It would solve many problems for truckers who need clear channles when out on the road.
EXPORT RADIOS do not exsist under our laws it is a made up turm by the sellers and dealers they are uncertified or illegal but our FCC has no provision for them if they did inforcement would get very interesting.

You can find me on 29.600 mhz

i hauled motorola cell phones to a Sprint warehouse one time and had an escort with a car with 4 antennas on it and some old people in it. not the same car is it? we had GMRS two ways for our private channel and they had a cb and cell phone antennas on top of the car too.. that wasnt it was it?

true story but im just joking about it being the same people.

its that way in the whole country. i got on there at home in michigan with a handheld with the stock rubber ducky antenna once, and not only was i hearing morons in places like texas claiming to be running 100,000 wattas, they were pegging my meter 3 or 4 channels away, blocking channel 9 infact. But...on most days you tune to channel 6 and its dead.

    I say morons because...come on.

Thought I'd add another 2 cents here. I met another local radio operator who happens to run a "leen-yar". Both of us run base stations, both of us 10 + miles apart. My radio is a barefoot Uniden Washington and his is a Galaxy 2527. I can hear him better when he has his amp on. In fact by at least a couple of S units. He once had the amp off and it was more difficult to hear him. Even on sideband he's more audible. With the amp on he usually modulates into the red on my meter. With the amp off he comes in around a 4-5 on my meter. I come in as a 4-5 on his meter.

So no it's not legal but it can work.

You sound just like the guy driving a Pinto bashing the man driving a Bently! Yeah sure...I run an amp because my #%$& is small...that makes perfect sense!!! I drive 75mph in a 70mph zone because I'm bald, I run ILLEGAL radios because I'm short, and I run the center lane because my shoe size is a 9. Your statement has to be one of the most ignorant and childish statement's I've seen yet. You hams call us "Outlaws", "Cowboys", "Rednecks".... if being any of those things seperates me from being anything like you "hams" aka, geeky little Johnny Law radio dorks...then I'll try MUCH harder at being an "Outlaw Redneck Cowboy"!!!!!

You have to really read the post to see the ones who complain about "MOD" Radios and "Pill Boxes" .. It is almost always HaMeRs. You cant please them, They somehow believe that since they have a License they are a authority on everything. They wont be happy till they become the "Airwave Police" ... Cry me a river and get a #### life. :biggrin_2553::biggrin_2553::biggrin_2553:
