"Why do you push the Speed Limit?"
"Why do people go to Bars and drink, knowing if they get stopped on the way out, they will be arrested for DUI?"
"Why do people run Yellow Lights, knowing there is a chance of getting caught for running a Red Light?"
"Why do people sit in the Drive-Threw at MC Donald's reading the menu for 5 minutes, before they order anything?" (It's not like they didn't have their minds made up on what they were going to order, before they drove-up!)
Answer:..."Because they can!"

Ha! LOL@Jesse.
...and that Bad Man from the Bad Lands..."Outlaw Trucker"....ROFL!
As I've stated before, I have a linear for when I need it, which is actually rarely, because the little 28watts my radio modulates is plenty for L/D conversations. But I also have a rather large antenna too.dynosaur Thanks this. -
I think I agree with you, most guys with power are trying to make up for something they are lacking.BTShepp Thanks this. -
Nope, sorry buddy. I'm good in that area. Don't knock linears until you try 'em. When I had my first radio I would hear people but often could not reach them. Now in my pickup truck, I am using a Galaxy 44 with a Palomar 225 and I can talk counties away with ease. Pretty cool if you ask me. I don't have to use it all the time, just if someone is farther away, that boost of power helps.

Also, truckers were targeted, because they're the most prominent on the band. But as for linears, by percentage our locals have far more of them, more use of them, and more power used. Some of these guys use 1K-3K just to talk to people ten miles away. They're a real PITA, since half of them bleed over onto 19. And they have worse manners than truckers, if you can believe that.
I still have one out there that I'll punch out next time I see him, after insulting my wife, and everything about me.RockinChair Thanks this. -
A lot of truckers knock ham radio but there are thousands of ham radio operators that are truckers and have pretty cool set-ups in their trucks. Getting you license is easier than ever. You should give it a tryroshea and bored silly Thank this. -
and does nothing but Bi@#! about cb users... grow up get over it.
secondly, I don't use "extree channels". I don't need to and don't care enough to take a dinky test to talk on them either.Longshot34 Thanks this. -

Clantonman1983,
I am not here telling you to get your ham license. I don't care if you do or not. All I was saying was if you really like talking far away you might want to get your ham license, thats all. No reason to get all pissed off at me. On 11 Meters you are relaying on an opening usually only in the summer. If you get your ham license you can talk all over the world every day of the year. Thats all not trying to piss you off.
Take a chill pill. I wasnt saying any negative towards you what so ever, no reason to reply with such an attitude.Last edited: Jun 23, 2009

Ok K2DMG, sorry if I sounded harsh but some of you guys on here really talk down to people who use a CB on this forum. I don't have any interest in a Ham radio and don't really see how any one radio (ham or cb) is more "distinguished" than the other or makes one seem more "educated" or "better" that's all I was saying, sorry if I sounded harsh...
and for Turbo T, that's right, I said Counties, not Countries. so, here's your... Some of you Hams talk about linear amplifiers like us CB users need it to compensate for something else when we could easily say the same about you and and your boasting of getting more distance... but none the less... I like using my CB because I know a lot of locals around here that use them as well as many base stations COUNTIES (that's right, theres that word again...) away that I talk to pretty often and I like to use the linear to get a little boost if I need it. Actually, since I have upgraded my radio recently, I haven't had to use the linear quite as much because the thing swings.
